Women’s winter campaign ready for blast-off!

THE Women’s Rugby League Association’s 2018-19 season kicks off on Sunday (21 October) with seventeen sides contesting two divisions, climaxing in the female game’s long-standing blue riband event on Easter Sunday (21 April), when the Challenge Cup and Plate Finals take centre stage as a double-header.

Active Workwear are again the Women’s Rugby League’s key sponsors and WRLA Chair Steve Manning said: “Nine teams will contest the Premier Division, while Division One comprises eight sides, including a number of new youthful outfits with players who took part in this year’s Under 16s Girls League.

“There are also two new sides – the Royal Navy and Wibsey Warriors – that will play friendlies this season.”

Manning added: “In addition to our cup and league competitions, we will be staging our eighth County of Origin game, alongside the BARLA Yorkshire Cup Final on Saturday 30 December at the LD Nutrition Stadium, Post Office Road, Featherstone.”
