ADRIAN LAM insists that he ‘has no regrets’ on playing Josh Charnley in Leigh Leopards’ 1-0 win over Wigan Warriors last Thursday.
Charnley went into the game as 50/50 and was seen with his left leg heavily strapped up when on the field.
The veteran winger limped off the field at half-time and didn’t return for the second 40 minutes, with Jack Hughes occupying the centre and Umyla Hanley being pushed to the wing.
However, Lam does not believe it was a mistake to play Charnley as he gives a rough diagnosis of his time on the sideline.
“It was a call made at the last minute and I don’t ever regret playing a player when I do,” Lam said.
“We thought it was the right thing at the time. Josh has got some scans and hopefully we will get those back soon.
“He might be out for four weeks plus from this moment on. It looks like a meniscus and hamstring.
“We will wait for the scan and we can make some decisions moving forward.
“Edwin Ipape and Rob Mulhern both pulled through.”
Ahead of Leigh’s fixture against Huddersfield Giants this weekend, Lam believes that Luke Robinson’s side are “dangerous” following their narrow 20-12 loss to the Warrington Wolves.
“These turnarounds can be dangerous, you want to play straight after as you feel you’ve got momentum.
“The players haven’t played too much together and we need to keep playing together. It’s a dangerous game against Huddersfield.
“They looked good against Warrington and they beat us round one here last year.”
The Leigh boss also gave an update on Ben Nakubuwai, who hasn’t played for the Leopards in 2025.
“Ben has had some knee injuries, there is an issue with some cartilage there and his hamstring.
“He is probably four to six weeks away and he has a little bit of a pec tear as well.”
