High winds overnight have caused considerable damage to the Princess Street stand at the Mend-A-Hose Jungle, home of Castleford Tigers RLFC.
An early morning visit from the safety officer has deemed that the friendly match v Bradford Bulls, to mark Andy Lynch’s testimonial, planned for Sunday at 2.30pm, can still go ahead, but with the Princess Street stand remaining closed.
A press release from the club indicates that the damage “again highlights the great need for a new stadium for Castleford Tigers to enable the club to grow and compete at the highest level.”
A special planning meeting is to be held in Wakefield next month when councillors will consider applications for four major new developments in Glasshoughton, Castleford. A proposed new stadium for Castleford Tigers will be among plans up for discussion at the meeting on Friday February 6.
