Danny McGuire gives latest on Judah Rimbu with Castleford Tigers man down the pecking order

DANNY MCGUIRE insists that Judah Rimbu can force his way back into the Castleford Tigers side after the PNG international will again miss out against Leeds Rhinos tomorrow afternoon.

Rimbu was dropped for Castleford’s 48-16 win over Salford Red Devils last weekend and played for Castleford’s reserves last night.

With speculation linking the hooker with an exit from The Jungle, head coach McGuire has now explained the situation.

“Judah played for the reserves last night and he did a decent job there,” McGuire said.

“It’s part and parcel of the game. I thought Liam Horne came back in and did a really good job last week.

“Judah has some things to work on and learn. It’s not all about what you do on the field, it’s about what you do away from the game as well and Judah is still getting to grips with that.

“He is learning about being a full-time professional but that doesn’t mean through hard work and commitment that he can’t force his way back in the team.

“I am happy with Liam Horne there and Chris Atkin can do a job off the bench. Cain Robb is there too.”

McGuire also explained the reasoning behind recalling George Hill from his loan spell from Salford Red Devils.

“We have recalled George Hill to give us competition for places to keep the squad healthy.

“Competition is important. If your performance isn’t where it needs to be then there is someone biting at their heels and that’s why George has come back.”
