Daryl Powell hails ‘outstanding’ Castleford

Daryl Powell has praised his side’s commitment, after they quickly bounced back from their defeat at Salford by thrashing London on Thursday night.

It is now six wins from seven for the Tigers in 2014, as they romped to a 54-6 win at The Hive to inflict more misery on the beleaguered Broncos, who are only being kept off the foot of Super League by Bradford’s points deduction for entering administration. And Powell hailed his side as ‘outstanding’, as their strong start to the season continued.

“I thought after a short turn around (following the Salford Red Devils match last Sunday) that the boys were outstanding. Their approach and commitment for what they needed to do was superb,” Powell said.

“Defensively, to keep a team to zero for 78 minutes is pretty difficult. There was a real focus in our game; we didn’t get everything right but the attitude of the players is unquestionable.

“We came up with some pretty smart things with the ball and we stepped up a level defensively, and that was probably the most pleasing thing.”
