Sale Sharks’ director of rugby Steve Diamond has defended the club’s involvement in Denny Solomona’s transfer to the club, insisting they have nothing to hide.
The Sharks confirmed the signing of Solomona on a three-year deal on Tuesday after heavy speculation surfaced months ago.
Solomona failed to report to training at Castleford when he was due back last month, and it has since been claimed by Diamond he has ‘retired’ from the 13-man code.
Having now completed a deal, Diamond insists the situation has been blown out of proportion.
“These things happen in sport every week where players move around and we’re at a point where we’re at an impasse now,” he said.
“I’m sure that’ll be ironed out before too long. It’s in the hands of the owners of the club, it’s nothing to do with me really.”
