  1. A shared stadium makes great sense, but will never happen. I note a change of tack here too, ready for "if" we ever get the rebuild started..."yeah you've got an nice new East Stand, but the West and South are still ###### - kick them out".
  2. It's beyond scepticism - it's bitterness and ill-will. You are desperate for the club to fail in this. It doesn't make you look good.
  3. I can certainly agree that we don't play TV games at Oakwell.
  4. Absolutely agree (but there's 1 or 2 who just burn with bitterness, isn't there?). Whatever happens, you cannot fault the club, under Carter & Minards, for their efforts in trying to get this over the line.
  5. The National Crime Agency believe the land is worth circa £2.5m. The amount seized form Manni H was £500k - that's the amount they deemed to be the difference between what it's worth and what he charged for it. John Minards and Michael Carter covered it in a fans zoom meeting recently. With fees, costs, appreciation, they were very comfortable with what the club ultimately ended up paying. And of course, the value of anything, is whatever someone will pay for it.
  6. They didn't. Urban myth. They did say they would play TV games at Oakwell, which they did...well, one game, anyway.
  7. Neither you nor I have seen the detail. You are being semantic at best. Either WMDC have taken a £3m loan on behalf of WTRLFC, under which the club are directly responsible for paying, including interest, or WMDC have underwritten a local govt loan, that WTRLFCs have accessed, which the club pay directly, including interest. Either way, the result is the same - there is no cost or risk to the taxpayers of WMDC. The land is the asset for security of the loan.
  8. If it fails, it won't be covid, it will be the developer ducking their obligations again (though THEY may blame covid). John Minards has been very clear - planning wouldn't have gone in until they had everything in place, including funding streams - we wait and see. Build is scheduled for end of season.
  9. And then there are some really strange trolls. I can't believe a Trinity fan has written this, so it suggests a rival "fan" is so desperately insular, that they will take time out to derail the club's efforts...then, if it fails, they will be on here telling everyone how unfit for purpose BV is. "The ground we have is big enough, we haven't reached capacity in years and it would cost the club to build a bigger ground when we can't even fill the small one we have now. Plus our ground is few left of the classic grounds that we saw decades ago, and it would be a real shame to see that charm go."
  10. DoubleD "laughed" at that post for some weird reason, so just for him: (Objects) Comment submitted date: Tue 05 Jan 2021 about time! (Objects) Comment submitted date: Mon 04 Jan 2021 The city of Wakefield needs a community stadium at the heart of the city. This can be used and develop in the area and promote health and well-being (Objects) Comment submitted date: Mon 04 Jan 2021 Fully support
  11. Actually, some of those "objects" are "supports" - they clicked the wrong button unbelievably (comments are in support).
  12. No, the developer of the Newmarket industrial site provides the funds, as part of the deal releasing the land set-aside for the "new" ground, along with funding streams sourced by the club. The council have underwritten the loan used to buy the ground - the club do, and are, paying that themselves of course.
  13. How do you think us Wakey fans feel!? We'll believe it when we see it, but we can't do nothing at this stage, then complain later if it doesn't materialise.
  14. The club own it, but the pitch isn't moving. There is plenty of room inside the ground at the Western terrace - the issue is, it is locked in on the outside, with part of it's length nothing more than a 4 foot wide alley.
  15. For those who may have missed the subtleties of this thread - YOU can go on the planning portal and add a comment of support for the development. All those people who (perhaps quite rightly), criticize the view, and amenities etc, saying what a horrible place to visit (or even better, you DON'T visit Wfd because the ground is sub-standard), here is your chance to do a little bit towards fixing those issues. Or you can just keep complaining on rugby forums about it being substandard.
