what we need more is spectators, paying public, and the more publicity we get, the better. positive publicity on a regular basis, talking up Featherstone Rovers, showing the stayaways that we have a bright future. the Tony Kenney spirit. lets big ourselves up, cos sure as he11 no one else is going to do it.
how lucky we were, when the Fox Mullaney partnership ended, along came Carl Dooler and Ivor Lingard. fantastic. thanks for the wonderful memories Carl.
i'll be on holiday mate, but if we win on sunday i will celebrate. (mug of cocoa and a chocolate eclaire). raise a toast to the lads if it happens, they deserve it.
apart from a good day out, what's winning the grand final gonna do for us, tick a box. finishing top after playing a full season is an achievement and should be celebrated.
imo.
it's not too long ago that whitehaven were one of the most feared teams in the division. i don't think anyone relished going up to their place. i don't like to see clubs in this predicament and i hope they sort themselves out soon and get back on their feet. we have to enjoy our good times while we can, you never know when it's going to be you.
Mick, we've been saying the same thing on the "progress" thread. i'm like a lot more people on here, if there was no Featherstone Rovers i would walk away from this game without a moments hesitation.
i know it's an old cliche', but we've got to feed the roots. 14 or 15 years down the line and we're talking about bringing Manu and Richards into the England set up. it's preposterous. until we get top quality youngsters coming through in large numbers, s/l is failing. when you see true r/l areas crying out for investment, while s/l wastes millions on expansion it makes you want to weep. i'm not saying give them money willy nilly, make sure theres a proper youth development in place, and police it. (but police it better than the salary cap has been policed). it's time to do the job properly and make people accountable.
