  1. Nice shots Gav. There's nothing like a bit of water to make a nice image. Here's one from each of the footy games I went to on the weekend.
  2. FFS. What about when they're off duty? What about plain clothed or under-cover cops in the middle of a public street? I guess to be safe you can't photograph anyone now.
  3. That would be the next lens I'd (at least want to) get were I to buy one.
  4. What's going on? This thread was at the bottom of page 2. Is everyone in old blighty too cold to take photos? Anyway as a way of a BUMP and to remind evryone that's it's summer here, here's a couple of generic shots from last night's water polo games.
  5. Came across this fella on the way home from the coast.
  6. Sometimes I'll saturate certain colours to make them brighter but with these I didn't - didn't need to. I did them all really quickly this morning so it was just a quick crop, lighten/darken and sharpen for all of them. It was just lucky it was a sunny day and a nice, bright room that allowed in plenty of natural light, which is all that was used. No flash, no tungsten - just good light and plenty of bright, Christmassy things.
  7. One more from xmas lunch. I just noticd the bubbles in this bottle of whatever the hell it is. Always nice when you see something in a pic that you didn't the first time and didn't intend to capture. And just one more, not from xmas day but from xmas eve. The wrapping of presents, as performed by my sister on this occasion.
  8. Merry Christmas everyone. Here's a few from my xmas lunch.
  9. We're not all weirdos like you. But I'll stick a few up. No footy in summer so a bit of a generic shot of some of the lads at training. Okay this one isn't recent. It's from the local grand final in September. It's the moment where the ref blows full time and the home team wins 8-6 in one of the best local grand finals I've seen. Cricket in the rain. Lovely. I've shown this one before I think but I just saw it in my footy folder and I really love it so I'm gonna show it off again. I call it "don't argue"
  10. The little 430EX seems perfectly good for the keen amateur. If you go up to one of the bigger, more expensive ones all you really get is more power, which is handy mind. They all fill pretty well as far as I know and that is the main thing.
  11. Nice. Not that I'd be terribly keen on a portrait lens but what type is it and what camera have you got?
  12. Jesus. Now that's a camera. Sure it's a Nikon... but I'd still use it. I've seen the D700 in action and it's pretty freakin good.
  13. Least you went the right way Canon/Nikon wise. Shame about union/league.
  14. It seems you can get 450D bodies for 300-400 pounds in the UK and 1000Ds for 280-350 new. On ebay second hand 20Ds seem to be going for 200-300 pounds and 40Ds for 300-400. On that basis they're pretty similar. So you can either get a spanking new camera that is not quite as good or you can get a used camera that is a bit better. You're taking a bit of a chance with a second hand body but if it's been reconditioned or serviced it should be as good as new. Personally I'd go for the better camera. But it depends on what you want it for too.
  15. Get a second hand Canon 20D or 40D. They're cheap as, especially now the 50D is out.
  16. Well I'm sticking with sport but OMG I've gone all gingerjon today and lost my colour.
  17. How did you not notice? It looks like a herd of African elephants have invaded the field. England still one big toilet then.
  18. Anything more than subtle and it might be heart attack time. That is actually unbelievable. What about the guy nearest the touchie to the right? Is that a man or a low flying zeppelin? Jesus! Can I pinch that photo? I'd love to keep that on file somewhere for future reference. And In my defence - I went to Inverell to see Inverell v Warialda but when I get there at about 2pm I discovered the game didn't start till about 6pm (which ended up being closer to 7pm) so I went to the yawnyawn, just to compare. I got the answer I was after, ie it was shi:te.
  19. These are from the only yawnyawn game I've done. Obviously they were the best of them and there would have been a lot of rubbish in between. It was a terrible game, probably an absolute classic in union terms.
  20. It's amazing how quickly you learn. I wish I had bought a better camera now myself, but 18 months ago I didn't know the first thing. You could probably get a Canon 70-200mm 2.8 for less than $1000 second hand (so less than 500 pounds) and the IS version for a bit more. I bought a 16-35mm 2.8 this week for $800 off a bloke I know who is going overseas and is getting rid of his gear. New it would have been $1800. Prices have come down over here recently because of the US dollar's decline. I don't know what that means over there.
