  1. Congrats to Saints and they were certainly the best team on the night, an amazing result for the British game! One quick question, when they bought Roby back on for golden point, is that technically allowed? Do they allow extra subs in golden point? Was curious about this
  2. 2 things here. First it's no guarantee there will be less than 14 clubs in 2015. Ian Lenegan wants 14, according to all our mags, and at the last time of knowing he had at least 5 other clubs backing him up- the so called 'rebel clubs'. To quote Gary Hetherington 'nothing is a formality in rugby league' Secondly, like I say it's yes but no. Any club without a money men will struggle. That's the reality. We're at a crisis stage and in the short-term we need to look to solutions externally. People could've said years 'what if Caddick stopped investing?' well, he has, years ago, and Leeds are still thriving. Other owners, though, may demand a bigger cap. The same 'Caddick' argument will crop up, but the fact is they're needed.. More money comes into the game with a higher cap and so owners do end up paying less on that cap
  3. So you think after the current development they'll level out the slope? On a slightly more bizarre note, do Batman and Robin live in Fev?
  4. I would argue that 10 years will do plenty of damage. For me the largest reason for the 'recession' was ponzi-scheming
  5. Contrary to what most think, I actually believe the economy is heading for tougher times still and is getting worse. In my opinion, the recession will continue to bite away more than ever in the future. Impossible to put dates on these things, though.
  6. Any ideology of SL which includes less teams than 12 is so unrealistic it's not even worth debating. Like I said at the start of the hour (hehe) we need more money in the game and we need more rich owners in influencing the cap, in other words increasing it, to make this happen.
  7. Depends on your youth system and how good your coaches are etc, Try selling that mentality to Wigan-made a fortune of transfers this year but still doing fine
  8. Didn't some Cas players admit in the YEP earlier this year that in 2009/2010ish (correct me if I'm wrong) they were told to give up their wage so the club would stay out of admin?
  9. Ok, so that invalidates my second point, but still not my first. Crowds are based on losing and winning and not SELLING. They're different things altogether
  10. Still need to sort the slope though... I'm not trying to sound funny here, but it's not great for a SL club to be playing on a slope like that, where the nature of the game can change depend on which half you're attacking
  11. Think it's more to do with the fact they're a losing club rather than a selling club, and without relegation there becomes nothing to play for. The result is a drop in crowds-as you've illustrated. Wigan sell all the time and their crowds are solid.
  12. Featherstone need a few more years outside SL and I think they'll be ready then. They're heading in the right direction, and when they land (to metaphorically speak) I think they could well and be a real asset, better than a skint Bradford. This year, though, that Bradford offer more at present
  13. I disagree that because Cas have sold Rangi Chase. their crowds will drop. I would argue their club has gotten used to hardship now, their crowds aren't necessarily higher than they ever have been because of Chase. RE Your 3rd point-yes, but often our SL clubs have not just been in 'debt' and so introduced better 'principles', although you could argue that Wakefield have been in that position this off season. However, often SL clubs have waited until the real crisis. At that point you need external help. Many clubs have been at that point and still are.
  14. The reality is SL cannot, with its amount of debt, be run on sound business principles at this time. It needs investors. We're reforming the game at a time of crisis, not at a time when the game is booming.
  15. Hi peeps. Obviously I'm new to this forum, but I'll get straight into the thick of it. I honestly think that these structural changes are fairly unimportant IF they mean no change in management in SL. This is the only way investors will get power and I ultimately believe money men like Koukash must now be listened to. We've been debating the cap for years but meanwhile everyone's forgetting the game is bust right now and the most dangerous thing to do with the cap is stand still on the issue. Once we sort out management and give more leverage on the cap, I think we can get a better product. How exactly we format the leagues and how exactly relegation and promotion works is a unimportant, because it's simple unsustainable regardless how the leagues are structured right now. So the RFL must budge and current policymakers must listen to those who are practically saving the sport. They need much more improvement on their investments, otherwise they could slowly walk away.
