Literally the only player who can say whether he was hurt is him.

What we are effectively saying is anyone who stays down after a tackle but then recovers is lying - yes, I do disagree with Parker and Munster.

Players have been getting hurt in RL for as long as the game is being played. It's a dangerous route to go down to accuse players of lying and saying they aren't injured when they stay down.

If a brand new person watched that tackle without knowledge of the debate on this, I expect they would see a rough tackle hurting a player and him taking a minute to recover. They wouldn't question it for a second.

It looked a heavy tackle and perfectly plausible that he was hurt. Parker sitting in a studio saying he isn't means zero.

I think that’s being disingenuous towards Parker, especially given his recent diagnoses.  It’s not in his interest to dis a player for no reason.

But your 3rd para is the crux of it.  Players, coaches and Refs (and people in life these days)  know exactly what the score is regarding blame and culpability.  It’s a difficult time for the game.

Cheap empty words as we all know.

Well, we should be remembering this in, say, 3 years time to check for progress and evidence.  The England, France and Australia are also Members, so it would have been good to see any additional money going to some of the developing nations.

Its interesting that players are cheating apparently, other players are saying they dont like that players are cheating, yet the onus is on the refs and VR to stop it. how about just for once the players and coaches take some responsibility.

And this was my initial response to Harry.  The coaches can have a big impact but (imo) they won’t.  Too much at stake.  It’s such a shame because players are asked to bust a gut to get back into the defensive line or to support the ball and instead they are taking the easy option of staying down.

By the way, I am talking non head high contacts, involving players simulating injury.

Once we start going down this route, of blaming players who have been hit round the head, we see players start to lift injured players, which is something that has crept into the game.

I'm crystal clear on this - if a player has been hit in the face during a tackle, I am perfectly happy with them staying down. The focus here absolutely must be on player safety, and that means on tacklers making legal tackles, and refs penalising high tackles.

What about the neck, side or back of the head?  I presume you meant ‘head’ but I have to ask.

    @Dave T

From the horses mouth so to speak, I can't get into the full report maybe you can.

WARRINGTON WOLVES star George Williams has called for Super League players to stop "pretending they are injured". In recent seasons, there has been an increase in what has been deemed 'playacting' by the rugby league fraternity - that is, players staying down after contact around their head in a bid to earn a penalty following video referee revi

I rest my case Mi Lud.

Read this article now for free!

It’ll be the coaches that dictate whether this stops or remains.  Too much at stake for some of them to do that.

Yes as the law is, quite correctly, broad. The individual offences are more detailed hence the E/F difference to the 2 incidents.

I did laugh at Patton claiming his should only be Grade C though

That is the norm in many situations though.  Appeal for a lesser charge and settle for something in between.

My take on the event was that the Player was defenceless on the ground.  Smith made a deliberate attack to his head using the full force of his body to increase the impact.
I cant see how this incident can be seen as anything other than as serious as it gets.

I agree that "It's the hope that kills you"...well almost. What is really annoying, depressing and indeed infuriating it's the cacophony of negativity towards everything about our game. It seems much worse ...louder and more aggressiv... lately.

Of course, critical examination of objectives, goals, plans, tactics, results etc is important. However, it seems to me that much of the criticism of our sport is based on more on dogma than anything

So far, the International game, expansion, the World Cup, NRL, RFL, BBC, Sky, Las Vegas, IMG, unfairness towards the Championship, neglect of grass roots are occupying the minds of the critics.

It really is getting me down, as you might have realised

Try to ignore all the negative RL noise John……….and enjoy the advertising.  😉

yesterday I watched last weekends broncos v bulldogs game on catch up - a crowd of over 40,000 - fantastic coverage from fox sports - end to end non stop action - full of momentum, intensity  and breathtaking skills and action - hardly noticed the bunker and hardly noticed the ref either everything RL  should be

compare that to the fayre been served up by sky/bbc and the SL - errors - stoppages - penalties - more stoppages -more pedantic penalties - no momentum endless boring dull video ref decisions that see seasons come and seasons go before they decide on the outcome

was hard to compare the NRL  game as even the same sport as SL! - Whats gone wrong with our version?

Seemed to be the same sport when they played the WCC earlier this year.

I've looked at OS maps for the Lincs coast. There is paths the whole way but they don't look the most established in a lot of places and weave around quite a bit which will of course increase the distance quite a bit. Between Mablethorpe and Skegness there is an established coastal footpath so that would be an easy bit of walking.

I'm very interested in going to Boston, mainly to visit the Stump due to my passion for church architecture, and I just thought I might as well indulge my other passions of the seaside and walking. I think I could walk from Cleethorpes to Boston in just 3 days as well, via the aforementioned seaside resorts and you can get a bus from Hull to Cleethorpes so it wouldn't be hard to organise or anything.

    https://www.lincolnshire.gov.uk/directory/42/walks-in-lincolnshire/category/103

This gives a raft of walks in Lincs.  Maybe you could go through them and find a point to link a route to Boston.

Before I retired the company I was helping out did a lot or archaeology around the north east of Lincoln.  Some beautiful villages.

Something to consider although might seem obvious.  Making your own routes up might involve walking along the highway and the risk that brings!

Yes I know. However from what I saw I hope he massively improves from his 'effort' in that game. If not we may have an expensive dud

Before the game I thought Freeman needed to improve his kicking game.  Imo he did but a few werent backed up by a good enough chase or were to the right place (TIG, deeper into Cats half).  Probably the difference between Catalans ending up further into Hulls territory or having to drop out.  That’s down to organisation and practice and imo was the main difference.

TBH I have to bite my tongue every time I comment about the organisation.
