  1. Totally agree, and if we really want to improve development and ensure the grassroots of our game will still be around and capable of producing player's long term and of improved quality, reduce SL funding to £1M per club and put the difference into ensuring there is still a professional sport of Rugby League there for future generations to enjoy.
  2. In my opinion not a chance Snowy, especially in light of a reduced funding for SL club's adding two more into the equation will only lend to dilute the handout even further, the only way it would be acceptable to the SL Chairmen is if it was offered to them they keep 100% of the Sky contract and the rest of the game can whistle. Saints League Leaders and GF Winners, Toulouse Relegated, Leigh Promoted.
  3. Can't agree with you Kevin, I have attended lots of games when clubs supporter's from your neck of the woods burst out in the chant "Yerkshir Yerkshir Yerkshir" when playing against teams from o'er big ill.
  4. that just about says it all, evidence tells you it won't improve the game it as become far less entertaining as the years have gone on, in SL we have 12 teams playing exactly the same way, it's just some do it more consistently and better than others.
  5. And.......... There are many other plusses that would result in making scrums competitive once more and the first is the fatigue factor that would result if they were competitive, would second rows be spending all the game out in the centre, will the same player's be able to cover on the outsides when the ball is lost from a scrum formation, will the backs have more freedom and the Half's more time to express themselves, will coaches go for the big behemoths to add weight to the pack or lighter forwards with more aerobic capacity, and those are just for starters.
  6. Yep agree with all that, now that they have brought scrums back go the whole way and make them competitive once more by insisting the ball is put into the tunnel and not feeding it behind the front rows feet.
  7. Get Anglian Windows to sponsor them, they could be called the "Chamois" you know from the Window Vipers............ I'll get my coat.
  8. Why anyone would want to pay to go and watch what amounts to "games with no consequence" is beyond me, can you imagine feeling no elation or emotion for winning and even worse saying after a defeat "well it didn't matter anyway" What is wrong with folk who believe P&R should be abolished?
  9. If the alternative was a closed shop with no P&R I would readily accept that, I went throughout the licensing years watching Leigh but I would not go again, I would also not bother going if Leigh was in SL and would as I expect be a team in the bottom half of the division with most likely having a good portion of the season playing games that have no consequence win or lose, I couldn't imagine anything more boring.
  10. Well spotted "Hawkeye", just shows how bored I am these days, actually in all honesty I have started watching MoD after all it is on quite often, doubt that I could sit through 90 mins of live action but a game condensed into up to 10 mins is just about acceptable, I have also learned that If I record it I can fast forward through all the waffle BBC's versions of Baz 'n Tez - whichever pundits are on.
  11. Unlike Leigh who outspent other SL club's, even when in the Championship, C'mon Tommy you know very well the system employed in RL does nothing to make the transition from the Championship to SL at all a smooth process in recruiting player's, by the time a club has secured promotion the shelves are almost bare and top dollar has to be paid for player's who are simply not worth it, I will go as far as suggest that Toulouse under the very same conditions will yo-yo this term, do you doubt that?
  12. I don't think using the Trailfinders as a comparison answers any questions.
  13. Which begs the question, will we ever see a return to licensing? What would the 'Criteria' to qualify for the selection process look like, how lenient would it be, or would it be done in the knowledge that a number of teams would simply not be up to the standard required. You make a very good point with your suggestion of the standards and the height of the bar to hurdle.
  14. Leigh, were locally known as "The Comics" presumably because inevitably the season would turn into a laughing stock?, I know this goes back a long way I am aware it was used in the 50's but I never learned the correct reason why. Sits back awaiting the explanation from the useual suspects whenever Leigh is mentioned on these pages.
  15. The optimum word in that is AGREEMENT, it does not matter who draws up the document, a signature will only be placed if it suits.
  16. Not if he is threatened with donning a face mask, it will stay in NSW and Q'Land.
  17. Moot point, I don't think that Sky would agree with that statement!
  18. Just been on the BBC news that it is official the WC is postponed for another year, best thing for it, you really can't have the Lord Mayor's Show with the carriage absent.
  19. In this country Princey the game is the hospital patient that is on the HDP ward, it will not be long before it is moved to the ICU the trouble is we have not got the medical expertise to drag us out of it.
  20. Bet ya they don't come Tommy, and what about the collective of the "Islanders" who on religious grounds refuse to be vaccinated, why on earth would they want to come to a place that is producing 50,000 new cases a day as it stands at the moment with experts telling us to expect that to rise to 100,000 a day as the lockdown restrictions take effect. If this was on the other foot and we had negligible numbers becoming infected in this country, and the country holding the tournament was rife with infection would our officials take a different opinion from the Aus and Kiwis I very strongly suspect not.
  21. Samoa, Fiji, Tonga, Italy, Greece, Lebanon, Cook Islands all reliant on NRL player's to fill their squads, these player's have mostly the same employers as the Aus and NZ player's, not a snowball in hells chance of any of these teams taking part. Has the song says "Let's call the whole thing off"
  22. I couldn't make an 'experienced' distinction between the two Spidey, but to someone who is totally clean of ever participating with any such substance if one tests positive for cocaine then surely it is in the system and would by definition mean being "coked up", wouldn't it?
  23. I was just comparing the population figures, how did you miss that?
  24. Nearly half of Featherstone population, if they do nearly half as well as Featherstone RLFC they will have done very well.
