Glasgow and Forth Valley played a double headed past week, last weekend Forth took the win 30-24 and in the return fixture Forth edging Glasgow out 52-48 Meanwhile Edinburgh had to forfeit there match against Westend due to not having enough players to fulfill the fixture, Edinburgh made several attempts to re schedule but this was problematic, with pitches being unavailable and players with other commitments

Newly formed Scotland women’s team will meet Wales on August 3rd at the Gnoll, Neath. Going to be a very difficult introduction to the international game for the Scots, but got to start somewhere

Tomorrow sees Scotland u16s take on Wales u16 at Biggar RU KO 1130 To accompany this a new club has been formed to give junior players regular RL games, Lanarkshire Lions u14s will take on North East team Consett Eagles KO 1300 then Lanarkshire Lions u16s will take on Yorkshires Farnley Falcons at 1415 Hopefully in the near future a Lanarkshire senior team could be born?

Glasgow v Edinburgh, Glasgow having a number of injuries were unfortunately unable to field a full team, despite efforts to get the game on Edinburgh were awarded the win meanwhile West End took on Forth Valley with the new boys finding their early season form again with a 48-6 win to move 2nd in the league

Certainly the SRU have been busy with the U16s 18s with matches and the recent development of the Girls/Womens team, with a tri series event happening in October between Scotland Jamaica and an England lions squad As for the senior teams, no idea as yet

Glasgow sought revenge on new boys West End yesterday with a 40-24 victory Meanwhile in the capital it took a last minute try for Edinburgh to over come Forth by 44-38 P Pts Edinburgh 3 4 Forth 2 2 Glasgow 2 2 West End. 3. 2

Last weekend Glasgow visited Edinburgh with Edinburgh coming out on top 48-36. With a 3 way tie at the top of the league of Forth, Edinburgh, West End This week sees Glasgow host West End and Edinburgh host Forth Valley

Yeah Forth Valley did win, reporting error on Westend social site Meanwhile in the 4Ns Scotland u16s narrowly lost 26-22 to England lions with the u18s losing 32-12

Today Forth Valley Viking hosted new boys West End Warriors at Hillfoots today, West End coming out on top 42-28 making it 2 out of 2. West End certainly making it an interesting season

Rd 1 of the Scottish Championship sore the game between Forth and Glasgow postponed due to technical difficulties Meanwhile new boys West End led Edinburgh at half-time 28-20 Edinburgh fighting hard in the second half but couldn’t overtake the new boys, with West end taking the win 48-46

Over the weekend Scotland U14s 16s 18s taking part in the Calcutta challenge at Kingston Park Newcastle, teams taking 5 wins out of 6 through all age groups giving the management team a good look at all players for the up and coming 4 nations This weekend sees Rd 1 of the Scottish Premiership Forth Valley take on Glasgow and newly formed West End Warriors take on Edinburgh

Scotland RL seem to be taking a slow methodical approach making sure development teams are in place so hopefully more young Scots will come across codes. It’s all positive moves

So the new season is nearly upon us with a new 9s event and a new team. West End Warriors join the league this year, based at Hillhead Glasgow, nothing much else known but I’ll find out, but the season begins on May 10th in Edinburgh with a 9s tournament 17th May sees Forth Valley take on Glasgow and West End Warriors host Edinburgh with playoffs and grand final later in the year Meanwhile Scotland u16’s take on a future Dons team tonight at Bentley ARLFC KO 6pm

U18s just announced a 25 player squad for the upcoming 4 nations with 10 home grown boys making it. Slow but positive progress U14 U16 girls development day planned for 21st April at Thatto Heath

Last weekend saw the Edinburgh sport big weekend where Scotlands U16 U18 met to prepare for upcoming matches Glasgow then met Team Colostomy uk winning 50-6. Team Colostomy then went on to play Edinburgh wheelchair team on Sunday under PDRL rules Sunday saw U14 boys and U14 U16 girls development day with around 150 participants over the 2 days Also Scotland U18’s will benefit from 2 new sponsors for the upcoming season from Boiler juice and ATS

So the SRL have been busy behind the scenes recently with trials at U16 U18 and women’s Over 70 individuals turned to at the U16 18 level and coaching teams put in place Over 20 females turned up for their first ever meet up, and more planned Club wise there were murmurs of a 4th club but as of yet nothing. Edinburgh Forth Valley and Glasgow still very active. Glasgow take on Chorley Panthers today in a pre season Friendly Teams have been busy getting sponsors onboard so here’s hoping for a successful year and keep the sport moving in the right direction

Did they even try n get any of the visiting SL NRL supporters to the game, beer tent and all that, only looks as if there was a handful of supporters and a scabby dog at it. Takes me back to Tattersfield early 80s

Well I’ll be there pushing Scotland on, I’ll accept the heritage players for now as I know behind the scenes SRL are working hard without any budget, and the 60 odd lads who turn up at weekends to play work dam hard. Hopefully we can actually get games going in Scotland, it’s going to be slow but we’ll get there
