  1. If Wigan put out a strong team 60-0. If they play their under 15's, 30-0.
  2. When Wakey go down I could see them being in a similar situation to Widnes. A core support of about 3,000 and realistically challenging for 3rd - 5th.
  3. Narrow Catalans win. I've been sent a graphic by a friend that advertises NHS staff can get free tickets for this and the womens game before. Can't find anything about it on twitter or the club website about it though. It seems weird to come up with such a good offer to get people in especially to watch the women's game, and then keep it a secret.
  4. What’s the worst season a team have had in the Super League era? (Excluding Toronto) Wakefield won’t be far off it this season.
  5. I say this every year but I really can’t see past Wakey going down this year. In hindsight, it was obviously going to happen as soon as they finally get construction going.
  6. I’d say right now The Lathums are a bigger draw than SFG, being one of the best modern day indie bands. That style of music isn’t mainstream right now though so they’ll probably never be as commercially successful as SFG were 15 years ago. Different demographics though. The Lathums are much “cooler” whereas SFG are now old enough to be on those “music for mum/dad” albums.
  7. As someone who goes with my mates, I didn’t mind a day drinking in Headingley and watching the rugby, but I only went for one day rather than the full weekend if it were at blackpool. If I had kids, i’d give Headingley a miss all together. Have to say I found the staff at the ground to be much ruder / less helpful too.
  8. I just went by the Wikipedia figure of 9,333. I did have a feeling that it would be limited to a bit under that. Looks like it is 7,258 (although obviously not during the redevelopment) which would take it to 66.2% full.
  9. Updated season averages: Leeds Rhinos 12641 St Helens 12511 Wigan Warriors 11338 Hull FC 10542 Warrington Wolves 8734 Catalans Dragons 7979 Hull Kingston Rovers 7915 Castleford Tigers 7781 Huddersfield Giants 5388 Wakefield Trinity 4811 Toulouse Olympique 4652 Salford Red Devils 4376 and as a percentage of ground capacity, if you’re interested in that type of thing: St Helens 69.5 Castleford Tigers 66.1 Hull Kingston Rovers 64.7 Leeds Rhinos 64.2 Catalans Dragons 61.4 Warrington Wolves 57.5 Wakefield Trinity 51.5 Wigan Warriors 45.1 Hull FC 41.5 Salford Red Devils 36.5 Toulouse Olympique 23.9 Huddersfield Giants 22.3
  10. 4162 considering the rain and the lack of cover I think it’s fair to say a few walk ups might have been put off.
  11. I said the same to the Mrs earlier. I’ve had Wakey tipped for relegation since we played them pre season. I just wonder how long they’d attempt to stay full time for.
  12. I can’t see past Wakefield to be honest. Toulouse just look better now and I can’t see anyone else being worse than Wakefield. That said. They’ve always avoided the drop before so who knows.
  13. Powell can keep talking about the race for the top six but if it weren’t for how bad Wakefield look they’d be in a relegation scrap.
  14. Salford No Longer Have The Lowest Super League Average Attendance Klaxon Wakefield’s average (4613) drops below Salford’s average (4675)
  15. Just a quick update on the Super League averages so far. St Helens 13304 Leeds Rhinos 12550 Wigan Warriors 10816 Hull FC 10710 Warrington Wolves 8922 Castleford Tigers 8476 Hull Kingston Rovers 8134 Catalans Dragons 7692 Toulouse Olympique 5210 Huddersfield Giants 5199 Wakefield Trinity 4716 Salford Red Devils 4464 Huddersfield have a fantastic offer on half season tickets and looks like they’re coming up with ideas to boost the atmosphere too.
  16. 78-0 Fev. Hall misses the final conversion and boos ring around post office road.
  17. 10,476 at Warrington last night. That takes their season average to 9,014 and they move above Cas in the attendance table.
  18. I agree. I prefer a final at a neutral venue but I can see the need to give the team that wins the league some kind of reward. In an ideal world, i’d like to see the league winners promoted automatically and the next four teams in a play off with the final at a neutral venue. It’ll never happen though.
  19. I wouldn’t be too surprised. We’ve been doing enough to win games without being as comfortable as most would expect us to be, like Leigh currently are, and that shows in the points difference. The dropped point at Batley felt like it was coming for a while. We’ve picked up since then but i’m glad Leigh and York were out of the way early doors and not last month.
  20. FRIDAY 29th APRIL Leigh Centurions 42 v 12 Sheffield Eagles SATURDAY 30th APRIL Newcastle Thunder 20 v 20 Halifax Panthers SUNDAY 1st MAY Featherstone Rovers 32 v 18 Widnes Vikings London Broncos 12 v 10 Dewsbury Rams Whitehaven 10 v 28 Bradford Bulls Workington Town 12 v 26 Batley Bulldogs
  21. Cornwall 10 v 52 Rochdale Hornets Doncaster 16 v 24 Oldham Keighley Cougars 62 v 6 London Skolars North Wales Crusaders 66 v 6 West Wales Raiders Midlands Hurricanes 16 v 24 Hunslet
  22. To be fair (and I have big hopes for York) that was the first game of the season and there was a massive away following. They then had a gate of 1,562 against Dewsbury and then around 2,000 for two of their biggest games of the season against Leigh and Widnes. Since then they’ve refused to announce their attendances.
  23. You’re right, and I doubt one decent stand will bring the prawn sandwich brigade to an otherwise dilapidated ground, but I think there’s also a difference among the working class supporters. The lads I grew up with who played the game around Cas / Fev are still massively involved with the clubs, whereas all of the lads I played rugby with at 15/16 in Wakey seemed to grow apathetic towards the game. Perhaps the smaller towns just have an advantage when theyre over represented at the top level of sport and Wakefield are in the awkward position of being a medium sized city playing a medium sized sport.
  24. Good job Bradford arent still playing at Dewsbury or Trinity couldve been the 4th biggest club in a Wakefield postcode this year. FWIW, I think there’s a lot of untapped potential in Wakefield, and I know there’s a lot of optimism around the new stand, but considering how few people were sat in the seats tonight i’m not convinced it will make a huge difference. In fact it might just make the place look even emptier.
