Keighley went big on spend at the beginning of the season. Possibly only behind Fev and Toulouse.

Toulouse got most of the new players from the elites so no big spending, they don't actually have a big budget.

They currently still don't have the new president installed, or a main sponsor on the shirts. Nothing will now happen until after the summer holidays...which is so infuriatingly french! This should have been sorted out pre-season

Its difficult to get decent players in this time of the season, if you have to replace decent players. I think Fords in a no way situation here.

Absolutely, for the aspiring championship champions what do you do? Go all in hoping you win the final? Which players would want to sign for a championship club with 7 games to play and no confirmed SL place? And the clubs, who has that money as a bet?

Tbf, while I never like seeing a manager sacked, they are woeful and the board have got to do something quick or they’re down so the decision is understandable.

I know "the board"/owners want results, as it is always is finance driven, but there should be some sort of loyalty. It should work both ways. Appoint someone and stick with them even in the low times.

I noted Sylvain has just had is 10 yr anniversary with TO this last week. I wonder how successful they could have been If they sacked him in the middle of last year.

Yes I agree with that and your team is an obvious example. Halifax too don't really seem to have replaced Joe Keyes adequately since he's been out. Gilmore for Widnes was another big miss. Even Fev, for the two defeats we have suffered this season, Johnno Ford missed the first one and went off injured after 10 minutes in the second one.

Toulouse by contrast seem to have been very fortunate as they have only two recognised halves and I think they have missed only one game between them all season. that said Josh Ralph, who is the player that really makes them tick, went off injured in the Keighley game, but it doesn't sound as if it's serious.

TO have a very small squad compared to Fev, but they have been managing what they have very well. Ant Marion can deputise as a half, Josh will be missed, I mean, he's been awesome,  but hopefully will be back for the playoffs. Zac has added some speed to the attack. TO have to play 5 of the bottom 7 so i would think they could still manage 2nd this season.

Not good is it?  Hardly the best prep for the players, I hope it spurs them on but more likely it will have the opposite effect.

Not sure what happened. No one was out of pocket anyway. Delayed kick offs don't help players normally as they have a pre match schedule they follow. It may even have helped the players a bit as it was not as hot as predicted.

I really appreciate the job refs do and couldn't do it myself but it's quite obvious, especially at championship level, that they need help and training to improve. It's so inconsistent and there are obvious howlers every week in every game. I'd like to think it evens itself out but again today I've witnessed a mess of a performance that got influenced by the crowd.

Thanks for doing it lads but there comes a point where its not good enough and they need help and training to improve.  The championship is wide open and some team are going to miss out because of bizarre decision and it shouldn't be like that.  They need more training and investment in them rather than everyone just been greatful they are there.

IMG is about raising standards and the first thing they need to do is train and improve the standard of refs. The game depends on it. A great performance can be destroyed by a bad decision and its happening more every week.

There has been a contingent of french referees over in the UK recently, some sort of training, which can only be a good thing

I also attend a good many Championship games and I'm sorry but must disagree with most of what you say.

What do I hope to achieve? Nothing, other than giving my opinion on a fans forum.

Maybe many of the referees are new to this level but IMO that still makes them poor. I'm sure in time they will become more exprerienced and improve but right here right now the overall standard is poor.

If the refereeing standard was good, I would say so. Refereeing isn't easy I accept and many fans only see the game from their own perspective. IMO we lack consistancy. One referee gives a penalty one week and the following week nothing.

I genuinly go to the matches each week not knowing what to expect from the referee. I don't expect the Referee to get every decision right just the majority of them with some consistancy.

I agree. Which is why it's important to get official feedback from the teams. They (referees) can't be expected to get better unless they take constructive criticism onboard.

It's such a shame the full game is unlikely to be unavailable online.  Would be a really interesting one to view back, you just don't get a proper idea of the game from a 3-minute highlight reel.

Out of interest did you ever get to see the Featherstone - Toulouse game, Kiggy? Another game that it's such a shame wasn't televised to a wider audience, a fascinating contrast of strengths and weaknesses. The penalty count was 12-1 in Featherstone's favour that day by the way!

The Fev v TO match should have been televised I agree. I did get to see the full match, close game but TO managed to pick the right moves late on to pull clear. One of the best defensive games for TO this season which I think surprised Fev in its intensity. I was a bit sad to hear some of the crowd abuse that got picked up on the refs mic. I thought the clubs had got that sorted.

I'm hoping at least one TO match will get televised before the play offs, but they only have 4 matches away now, so time is limited.

Spoilt a good game by all accounts

toulouse defended two tries with good goal line defence

Batley's 1st try was excellent. The 2nd was inevitable after the referee's decisions in the 10minutes up to it. I would imagine that will be in the post match report to the RFL.

However, It could have been the motivation TO needed as the 2nd half score was 22-0. They defended extremely well and Batley just ran out of ideas. I was surprised they didn't try to get it wide as that's where most success against TO has been.

    Today at Victoria park Warrington,

The French team arrived on Thursday by bus then went straight to the St Helens game,

Touching moment yesterday at the shirt presentation as Konrad hurrell gave a speech and Laurent fraysinous presented his son with his match shirt.

    Allez les bleus 😁

Is this being streamed live? I think the match is 12h00 UK time

One major factor for Fev has been the return of Mark Kheirallah, who has been fantastic in recent weeks. When you add in the improvement that Hau is making, this will most likely be a better Fev team that finishes the season than started it.

Ford and Killer got TO over the SL goal line, I suspect they will do the same for Fev.

Don't know the lad, would you say he is SL quality?

Toulouse like Fev or any other Championship team that hopes to get to SL through promotion this season need to be signing players that can compete if they do go up, otherwise just another player that will need to be replaced.

Dimitri is very good, only 21 too...and French. SL no idea, time will tell. Toulouse don't have the budget to sign top players, besides, who is available? It's just musical chairs at the moment with the same players just swapping clubs. TO have a 2 year plan, it's not a disaster if they don't get promoted this year as they are building for a french future.

Close matches all three - Broncos 22-6 against Toulouse, London side on the up may be get top 6 come the end

The Dragons caught out like last year & this yr 26-14 now 14-22

Out at St Gaudens the English Academy won 33-20 against the French lads. The visitors needed a drop goal & a try in the last minute

It was closer than it should have been.

England were very dominant in the first half, but the French lads crept back into the match in the 2nd half. A penalty try made it a 1 score game at 26-20 but then the drop with 5mins to go was quick thinking. The try in the corner after the hooter made it look comfortable. I think there were at least 4 mistakes at PTB by the English. The English lad kicking was good, a bit of luck with one off the posts and some clever kicking from the restarts. Lots of handbags during the match, some unnecessary willy waving, but what do you expect with so much testosterone swilling about?
