  1. That's big talk by Perez considering the whole of Ontario has only 2 clubs.
  2. SL is far from the biggest sporting event in Britain.
  3. Nope in 10 years time they'll be in the same spot. because grassroots is being ignored. RL don't have 16-19 year old Canadians coming though systems.
  4. Why launch in Liverpool? This franchise is already giving off bad signs.
  5. That's fair enough but we need to actually see progress at grassroots level for RL in Canada we haven't seen it. And with the apathy towards the grassroots game I can’t see it improving anytime soon . If things continue this way in 3 generations they'll still be no Canadian talent coming through.
  6. They need juniors first before that happens
  7. From what I was told was that Perez's biggest criticism of the wolfpack was them not being based in Canada but lets just see how this pans out.
  8. Actually being based in Manchester is an advantage as they can pull from the league clubs in England like they've done with Rochdale. Ottawa being based in Canada will make it harder for them to attract players. Being based in Canada they can't start an academy because it's too expensive and league barely even exists in Ontario with only two league clubs. Where will the players come from without juniors coming through? Which is why I stress they develop the game at a junior level but there definitely apathy they would rather sponsor yawnion events, disappointing.
  9. I like how the launch is actually being done in Canada
  10. If this is a success then hopefully this investor can take on NA rlwc in 2025
  11. Says a lot about the standard here in NH then doesn't it.
  12. The thing is France has more ru players than New Zealand in terms of participation numbers.
  13. Both only have 1 fully pro team. Both governing bodies are broke. Both have huge union competition for talent. If you take these into account they should be of similar class. But that's not the case. New Zealand is arguably better than even us.
  14. It's getting pretty bad down there as well https://futaa.com/article/203403/max-gradel-slams-toulouse-fans-for-lack-of-support
  15. We are too over-saturated in the NW of England. Where as the RU and Football clubs are spread out better besides London but London have the population. I think that explains the crowds
  16. I'm not saying TO will ever be as big and as popular as stade toulousian. That'll never happen. But they need to appeal to other sports fans to grow the fan base. The good news is that TFC is terrible the football fans will be easier to covert. I think the All Golds can convert some people if they were consistently in super league but they of course will never be bigger than Gloucester RU. The only union town i can think of where the RL side is more popular is Auckland. But they are an anomaly. How much league is there in Leicester not much so it will have to be a long build. I think places like Bristol and Leicester are great areas for expansion pretty big markets those.
  17. Toulouse is a union city they have to appeal to the union crowd to get more fans.
  18. Depends on the fixture https://www.walesonline.co.uk/sport/rugby/rugby-news/huge-tv-audience-tuned-watch-15885449e
  19. Cracking a sports market takes generations we need to build the market and the RL culture from the ground up.
  20. Precisely no nations besides Australia and us have the money for it. It would've been nice to have NZ as exclusive hosts. CO-hosing it in the pacific islands isn't so bad either though having the big games and finals in Auckland will be good too.
