  1. A team v 17 individuals with no loyalty to the badge. Ignoring all else Rowley is a great tactical coach
  2. Clubs will be using donate for any season tickets that don’t want a refund, you retain the full amount by doing so ie no vat, so if a club pays back 10% it is 10% better off
  3. The beauty of the mid 8’s was that promoted team simply had to be better than those wishing to take its place on that day
  4. https://leighrl.co.uk/wp/v2/blog/2020/08/07/7th-august-2020-statement-from-owner-derek-beaumont-and-the-operational-board-on-behalf-of-leigh-centurions/?fbclid=IwAR3nri2Hh2fvSiTIHLh21DugKiCcTOqbhAvsQg9lYIjmuYM4hqC1D4nx8z0 Well under 10% and very prompt in returning it
  5. There is more than one deal on the table to take the TW licence if they fold, one I am familiar with guarantees full cap spend in 2021 without the extra SL money.
  6. Widnes had buckets a cash, or do you mean TW??
  7. Why? Would they not be obliged to settle or pay in full.
  8. In 2018 many clubs outside the middle 8's struggled to raise a full 17 due to the transfer window being closed very early.
  9. Often the cultural variances in nations can be small, often not so. The 'Newer' countries lack the history to have genuine rivalry between towns/city's that have been around for hundreds of years.
  10. You take your plan to the table and get buy in from those who want to be a part of the journey - here we seem to want the sport to sit at the table with look we aint got a clue what we are doing, where we want to be and what we can do for you - but can we have some money please, go on pretty please.
  11. Saracens are the UK club, it will allow ‘marquee’ RU signings to be registered at TW then loaned to Saracens at cheap rates to avoid further salary cap infringements for them
  12. Is there anyone on here who has a clue about planning in a position that if you fail you lose everything, so far it reads like red book 1 basic business for council employees. first thing you do is understand where you want to be in 5 years, in today’s climate that must be how many SL clubs, and what expectations are below it - at present it seems we haven’t got a clue, no vision then you break down the components of how you are going to get there, this will include expansion, tv deals, tv audiences, sponsorship, p&r, gates, financial stability of clubs, stadiums etc you deliver a broad mission statement, set your annual goals ie route, allocate ownership of goals and manage accordingly - communicating openly to your stakeholders as you go and dealing with failure via process, re routing when necessary- RL must understand that ownership and meeting goals are not dirty words RL must become commercial results orientated,
  13. That figure is a big ask, not that it shouldnt be aimed for but working within current money, is it £40m pa? SL1 £2m per club x 9 Catalans to source French TV deal = £18m SL 2 £1.2m per club ie 2 SL clubs plus Fev, Widnes, Bradford, Leigh, TO, Avignon, London and Newcastle with TO and TW sourcing own TV deal = £9.6m. SL1 T5 play off, with 12th relegated and 11th in play off. SL 2 Winner promoted 2-4 in play off with SL1 11th Min salary spends SL1 £3m, SL2 £2m. No cap but accounts must balance at end of season 3 year Franchise application, objective 2 x 12. Elite academy's at Leeds, Hull, Wigan, Saints, Catalans, TO, Warrington, London and Newcastle. Regional Elite Academies at Leigh - Widnes, Leigh, Salford. Yorkshire - Hudds, Cas, wakey, Fev plus Cumbria. 12 team League structure with GF Central funding £300k per academy. £3.6m
  14. Was that a Eureka moment??? RFL incompetent???? You don't want to restart, no numbers given, so we will offer you a comp instead - comedy genius
  15. Sky want subs, ads and viewers - don't give a hoot where they live and there wasn't a rush of French/Global companies wanting to take SL spots in the UK after Cats came in, same with London eg Fred Done is a proper Lanky lad. Northern England has a population of 15m if we can get 1% watching live RL every week and 3% on Sky that would be fantastic - and who would give a hoot , well plenty is my guess as success breeds success, you then expand from strength as others want a piece. When we are planning expansion we must first ensure the foundations are solid and not ignored/taken for granted - thats why I have always said two tens, going to two twelves is THE way to support those clubs in the heartlands with a decent fan base and ensure we are the catalyst for the re-emergence of RL in France via TO and Avignon, with Serbia next.
  16. States 12k on website, and could be up to 13.5k with little effort.
  17. Autumn comp wont happen and most Champ clubs are better off as long as furlough is in place. They took the money from sponsors and ST's plus central and are paying out far less.
  18. Depends which capacity 12k, 12.7k or 14k On a serious note if the ground was given a 3600 limit admission costs will go up
  19. The non payment of the parachute plus whatever top 1/2 in the Championship normally get reduces that burden, I would guess the 2 clubs would happily split that cash to move up.
  20. 1. If we are to ringfence 20 clubs initially they must operate with the same name - La Liga 2 is the commercial name for soccer 2nd division in Spain, 2 Bundesliga in Germany etc - don't really care what that name is but it must be FT with minimum spends. 2. If we had the ELITE clubs to make up 12 teams with 10k plus gates in great stadia with huge commercial incomes I can agree, we haven't so we need to create a true elite - the extra talent initially will come from NRL eg Leigh have 1 overseas so fill the quota and would be as good as anything outside the T6 3. P&R between peers is essential for the British mindset. Playing against the elite is also in that mindset 4. York are where Leigh where in 2013 - building, getting totally slaughtered will not grow gates to a required level. In a few years if York are still a mid table Championship club the crowds will at best stagnate. In my proposal, they would apply for SL2 with a greater fan base and increased sponsorship. 5. There is nothing wrong with being a mainly Northern sport, there is also a major chunk of that region still to develop, but in the Northern hemisphere we must also be the catalyst for expansion especially in France becoming a FT comp
  21. Two full time divisions in SL is the only way to go, otherwise you restrict expansion or kill established clubs. The goal must be grab the low hanging fruit, assist France in becoming an International force and provide high quality RL to the emerging N American market. We cannot kill the larger clubs in the championship - there fans simply stop buying tickets they don't start supporting a new club. Bradford, Widnes, Leigh, Fev, TO, Newcastle and London are essential for the future. Bradford and Widnes are rebuilding but a few more years they must be back in a SL structure. Ottawa and New York if they become a reality should not be doing the TW route of trying to introduce a new sport by slaughtering inferior opponents. Two tens from 2022 and two twelves from 2025 must be the goal - Avignon, TO and Cats in France must make it far easier for a TV deal, the same with 3 N American clubs. Time to start saying we can rather than the typical it wont work because... attitude that makes us the laughing stock we have become
