Do we think we will see Roberts again this season ?

Ah ok - my mistake on the commentary -

I think Dan Abram was on the commentary team on the highlights video - if memory serves which I thought surprising. Sorry to see him leave as he has been a really good and loyal player for us and of course is an excellent goal kicker, his best position is fullback - from the highlights Whitehaven already have a decent fullback although getting himself sin binned was a bit silly. Unfortunately with coaches they have their favourites and Dan isn't first choice at fullback - so I guess he has to leave to get regular rugby I believe the ref ended the match after Reece Briers knocked on and didn't allow the follow on play because Briers knocked on after the final hooter so that ended the game. -

Just seen the highlights - I think we were very lucky that the ref did not award a penalty try to Whitehaven.............but I am not complaining. -

I wonder if the ref and the touch judges had cold showers after match after denying an appeal for obstruction try after the hooter had sounded It was quite common for the showers to break in the ref's changing room after controversial match deciding decisions Can't wait to see the full match video. Also saw on Widnes page that they reported Will Roberts is out for three weeks with an ankle injury - so would appear he is now a Widnes player...................thankfully Steven and Briers are playing really well together -
I don't think we will see young Robert playing for us again this season as I think playing for Widnes at the higher grade will trump playing for Swinton. I think Roberts is better with ball in hand than Briers and a stronger tackler but, Briers has a really good kicking game and can convert from anywhere on the field. So as long as we can keep Briers and Stevens as our starting halfback pairing we should be able to create loads of scoring opportunities. Really difficult game next week at Whitehaven - but won which we can win

I think the womens' game is still evolving and if one reads the women & girls section on TRL one can see lots of movement of players and coaches between clubs. As for our mens' team, we have signed a lot of young players on the fringes of SL that may prove to be very capable at League 1, but if not then the players leave and move elsewhere.

I think most of our coaches have engaged in the use of colourful language - I think Kilshaw has been the exception in that regard. I agree about the halfbacks but we must remember that Roberts is DR and there's no guarantee he will feature regularly - Briers has a good kicking game but he isn't as creative as Roberts who also takes on the line more. I also think Abram's best position is fullback.

A great second half performance today that won us the match after a mistake riddled first half. I think the forwards did really well to compete with and contain the big Crusaders pack, the half back pair of Roberts and Stevens played really well with Roberts getting more influential as the game went on. For such a young player Roberts showed maturity as he set up and ran the plays - I have always been a fan of Stevens and he showed today what a talent he is. We scored some great tries in the second half. Can't wait to see the highlights.

Swinton Lions sign dual-code former Wigan Warriors prospect

To be honest I think the spine of the team decided to leave mid season even before we lost to Hunslet - I guess a number of the players were unhappy and had sorted out moves away. I agree Gibson was a good player for us and I fear he will cause our young team lots of problems on Sunday - but I will hope for the best. We need an effective halfback pairing if the team is going to get into the play offs this season. -

I still think Stevens should be given a chance to play - after all he was given the #6 shirt. I am not sure signing another young talent is what's needed, in my opinion, if we are looking for halfbacks, then we need sign an experienced halfback. -
Well I was only 10 or 11 at that time - that's my excuse But do remember Swinton always playing Featherstone but not often against Castleford or Leeds - I think

Old father time here - so when there was one league if you finished in the bottom 16 of the table you tended to play only teams in the bottom 16 apart from local derby matches and I am sure I have said this before in the mid 70's Swinton finished in bottom 6 so next season played mostly teams from the bottom 16 and had a really good season finishing in the top 8 I seem to recall. So for me one division below SL seems sensible - after all there won't be promotion up to SL in the distant future and as Anita has said promotion from League 1 to Championship is going to be extremely difficult if not impossible - so merging into one league will enable more local derby matches, larger home attendances and for the teams in League 1 to hopefully improve their standards.

Actually, Bradford will be ok as they most certainly be elevated to SL now that Nigel Wood is again at the helm of the RL - maybe I should see what odds I can get on it

Never easy winning at Keighley - I can't go either should be a good game. I see still no place for Stevens in the squad - is he injured or just out of favour........will be sorry to see him leave

Its a statement to the extremely poor health of professional rugby league - SL clubs running huge deficits (St Helens, Wigan), Salford in special measures - I imagine most if not all championship clubs struggling financially and League 1 clubs just keeping their heads above water - sadly Cornwall haven't been able to. I am not offering any solutions just stating the obvious
