Wigan Warriors Education are excited about educating our fans… and a fantastic new promotional video has been released to show exactly how they plan to do it.

Based within the elite environment of Robin Park Arena, a range of hands-on courses have already benefited hundreds of 16 to 18-year-old students at post high school level, gearing them up for careers in sports, fitness, physiotherapy and other related fields.

Now the time has come to showcase the offer to a new generation, with recruitment for the 2021/22 academic year well underway in spite of ongoing issues around social distancing and the impending lockdown.

The new video highlights exactly what a typical term with Wigan Warriors Education looks like, with the team planning for as much normality to delivery in the next academic year as possible; e.g. teaching in person in our fantastic classroom and training facilities, as well as some fantastic extra-curricular opportunities.

Fields of study currently on offer to students at Wigan Warriors Education include:

  • Fitness instruction and personal training
  • Sports coaching
  • Sports science
  • Sports development
  • Sports rehabilitation
  • …and many more!

Wider opportunities from the courses include the chance to represent the Club via the colleges Rugby League competition, be part of the team putting on the gameday experience at the DW Stadium, undertake international travel through work experience projects (subject to the global situation at the time) or take part in the National Citizenship Service (NCS) programme to improve life skills and take part in social action projects.

Kevin Perry, head of education at Wigan Warriors Education, is excited about showcasing the opportunities that his team can offer to young local learners and is delighted to have caught so many of the courses’ qualities on camera via this new video, explaining:

“The learning experience we can offer at Robin Park Arena is second to none, whatever your preferred skillset. With quality facilities for both work and play, we can offer the ideal academic and sporting balance in a fully professional environment.

“They shine through in this video, and whilst it’s hard for us to showcase our great site in person, this is the next best thing to really create a ‘wow factor’ about what we’re able to offer.

“There’s no doubt that this has been a challenging period in terms of pupils visiting our college to have a look round and meet our staff team, but we hope that when the situation improves, this will be something we can offer into 2021 for those who have been enthused by this virtual experience.

“For now, we have a brilliant alternative option of a one-to-one online interview with a member of our education team, where all course details can be discussed, applications completed and a course place secured for September 2021 at a mutually convenient time.”

Pupils or parents who are motivated to find out more about this exciting opportunity simply need to contact education@wiganwarriors.com or call 01942 762 888 to book their interview slot.
