Hull KR’s Elliot Minchella on his England chances as meetings with Shaun Wane revealed

HULL KR captain Elliot Minchella has confirmed that he has been involved in several meetings with England head coach Shaun Wane ahead of the Ashes Test Series later this year.

England go up against Australia on UK shores in three fixtures in London, Everton and Leeds and there has already been great debate about which stars should be called up.

One of those who has been performing admirably at club level is Minchella, with his presence the link between Rovers’ backs and forwards.

For Minchella, he has earned just one England cap and that came in 2024, but with the back-row heavily stocked at a national level, it remains to be seen whether or not the 29-year-old gets the call-up at the end of the year.

“Obviously we have had a couple of meetings throughout the year but I am concentrating on my job at Hull KR,” Minchella told League Express.

“If I’m involved, I’d love to be involved, but you can’t control these things or other people.

“I can only control playing well for Hull KR but we have had a few meetings and talks with Shaun Wane.”
