Hull coach targeting top-five finish in Super 8s

Hull FC coach Lee Radford has targeted the Black and Whites to break into the top five come the end of the Super 8s – admitting anything beyond that will be a bonus for his team.

FC are six points behind fourth-placed Huddersfield – but that gap will reduce to just four tonight if they can win at Castleford in their opening game of the Super 8s.

And Radford believes the top five is within their reach, and says if they can somehow manage to scramble into the top four too, that would be a bonus – but a strong start is key.

“Castleford are big up the middle,” he told the Hull Daily Mail.

“An area of concern against Wigan was our line speed. Keeping them down their end for as long as we possibly can is key.

“We need to start this competition well. We started slowly in the regular season and only won two games from our opening eight matches.

“We are striving for fifth and anything else beyond that is a bonus.”
