Hull want rid of McDonnell, Bulls tipped to swoop

Hull FC confirmed today that they have opened discussions with injury-hit full-back Shannon McDonnell to bring his career at the KC Stadium to an end – and Bradford Bulls are favourite to take the Australian on a free.

The 26-year-old has not played for the Airlie Birds since injuring a hamstring against Warrington in the Challenge Cup semi-final last year. He has been told he is not in Lee Radford’s plans thanks to the emergence of Jamie Shaul, and the two parties are trying to reach an agreement for a pay-off.

Black and Whites owner Adam Pearson told the Hull Daily Mail: “We feel it would be better to negotiate an ending of Shannon’s deal.

“With Shannon’s injury and Lee’s decision to take a different direction, we feel an exit is the best solution for all parties and we are in the midst of those negotiations. It is now Shannon’s call to take our offer to leave the club.”
