SALFORD RED DEVILS have landed Leeds Rhinos prop Justin Sangare on a two-year deal.
The 6’4 prop becomes Salford’s fifth signing of the transfer window, joining Esan Marsters, Sam Davis, Chris Hill and Joe Bullock through the doors of the Salford Community Stadium after leaving Leeds Rhinos just under a month ago.
From an early age, Sangaré was spotted by Toulouse Olympique in France and progressed through the club’s development programme.
Making his debut at just 18 years old, Sangaré went on to make a handful of appearances in the next couple of years before making a real impact in 2021.
Scoring ten tries along the way, he was a powerhouse in the Toulouse side who earned promotion to the Betfred Super League ahead of 2022.
He then featured 23 times for the French outfit in the top division before signing a two-year deal with Leeds Rhinos in 2023.
The 26-year-old has also represented his country four times, including the 2021 Rugby League World Cup, where he faced England, Samoa and Greece in the Group Phase.
He made a further 23 appearances for the Rhinos last season but will now link up with Paul Rowley and his new teammates when they reconvene for pre-season training.
On signing for the Red Devils, Sangaré has said: “I am very happy to join Salford for the next two years.
“There is a lot of potential with this group. My ambition is to win trophies, and I know that is something the Club is striving to achieve, so it feels like the perfect move for me.
“I am excited to meet the supporters and give everything on the pitch to earn their respect.”
Head Coach, Paul Rowley has also stated: “I am pleased to welcome Justin to Salford and on behalf of all the group we are all looking forward to working alongside him with a shared objective of being our absolute best, at training and in games.”
