Leeds Rhinos given major Brodie Croft boost as contract clause revelation explained

LEEDS RHINOS have been given a major boost in their bid to keep Brodie Croft following the revelation that an NRL clause has expired in his contract for 2025.

There has been much speculation concerning Croft’s future in recent weeks and months following Ben Hunt’s exit from the St George Illawarra Dragons.

With Hunt linked with a return to Brisbane Broncos, St George head coach Shane Flanagan has been keen to replace the playmaker with a number of names linked with the Dragons.

One of those has been Croft, but now The Daily Telegraph has revealed that the Dragons have shifted their attention elsewhere following the inability to exercise a certain NRL contract clause by a certain date.

“The Dragons are shifting their attention to Cronulla’s Daniel Atkinson with former Storm star Brodie Croft reportedly unable to secure a release from his Super League deal,” The Daily Telegraph has written.

“Croft had previously been linked with a move to the Dragons, but Leeds Rhinos’ Sporting Director Ian Blease said Croft won’t be going anywhere.

“Croft had an NRL contract clause that allowed him to return to Australia by a certain date if an opportunity became available.”
