THE Silverbacks, who were launched to help players adapt to retirement after hanging up their boots, and who have also helped raise vital funds for a wide range of charitable causes in recent years, are preparing for a busy year.
Organiser Jonny Morgan and his colleagues will kick-start their programme on Saturday, March 22 at Shaw Cross Sharks (noon) with the Prostate Cancer charity set to benefit.
Next up will be the West Yorkshire Fire Service (at Pontefract RUFC, Saturday, April 5, at 3.00pm) in aid of the Firefighters charity.
Kippax Welfare Legends will meet Ryan Boyle Legends on Sunday April 27 (2.30pm), in support of the Boyle family, while on Saturday, May 3, the Danny Jones Foundation will be the focus (a decade after the player’s tragic death) when the ‘Danny Jones Keighley Cougars 2015’ squad play the Silverbacks Rugby League Legends. That game will kick off at 3.00pm.
