Shenton heaps praise on Hardaker

Castleford captain Michael Shenton has backed Zak Hardaker to be a success at the Tigers, having “loved” working with the former Man of Steel since his arrival.

Hardaker has linked up with Cas on a one-year loan deal after his exit from Leeds Rhinos.

The England international has been in training with the West Yorkshire club for just under a month, but he has thoroughly impressed Shenton, who is back in action himself after an ACL injury last season.

“I’ve loved working with Zak,” he said.

“You can see how hungry he is and you can tell he really wants to enjoy his rugby again – and there’s no better place to do that than Castleford. If you’re willing to work hard and apply yourself, then Daryl will let you play and develop your game. I truly believe we can take Zak’s game to the next level at Cas. His ability is unquestionable; he’s a former Man of Steel and he’s so talented. He looks like he’s really enjoying himself so far, I’ve enjoyed working with him in the gym and he’s a brilliant signing for the club. It’s a real statement of intent.”
