Sims and Wheeler to debut for Warrington next Sunday

Warrington Wolves have named their first squad for pre-season, as they gear up to take on local rivals Widnes Vikings next Sunday at the Halliwell Jones Stadium.

New boys Ashton Sims and Gary Wheeler are both in, as head coach Tony Smith names a squad with a blend of both youth and experience for the game. Stars from last season such as Roy Asotasi and Micky Higham are in, as is Richie Myler – who had been linked with a move away from the club in the off-season.

The last time the two sides met was in the Super League play-offs, when the Wolves triumphed to eliminate the Vikings in week one of the competition.
