Sinfield will be given until 11th hour, says McDermott

Leeds Rhinos coach Brian McDermott has revealed that Kevin Sinfield has had a “tough week” battling injury – but says he’ll give his captain until as late as possible to try and be fit for Friday’s game at Huddersfield.

Sinfield limped off during the loss to Castleford last week with the injury, and he is in a race to be fit for Leeds’ last league fixture of the season ahead of the play-offs.

But McDermott said that if Sinfield declares himself fit, he’ll be in the team – saying he’ll get as long as possible to be right.

“We’ll give him until the last minute,” said McDermott.

“He’s had a tough week with that dead leg, but if he can play he’ll declare himself fit and we’ll certainly put him in the team. We’ll give him until the 11th hour.”

McDermott also provided an update on the fitness of the versatile Rob Burrow, saying: “Rob Burrow looks like he’s going to be fit, but we’ll check on him on Friday.”
