Tomkins set for Wigan return

Wigan are set to welcome back Joel Tomkins for their Good Friday derby with St Helens.

The forward has yet to feature this season after dealing with a knee injury picked up in pre-season.

However, Wigan head coach Shaun Wane has confirmed that Tomkins, who turned 29 yesterday, could make his return in the club’s first showdown with their arch-rivals this year.

In less positive news, Liam Farrell looks like he could miss the clash as he continues to struggle with a slight shoulder injury. Sam Tomkins is thought to be about two weeks away from a return.

Speaking about the derby, Wane said: “Saints weren’t at their best last week, like us. It’s two teams that are disappointed with their performances.

“All of that goes out of the window on Friday. The fans are passionate, the clubs have a lot of respect for each other. Good Friday games are great, we can’t wait.”
