Wane delighted with Bowen attitude

Wigan Warriors coach Shaun Wane has heaped praise on veteran fullback Matty Bowen – who could end a two-month exile from the Wigan team and feature for them tomorrow.

Ryan Hampshire has been Wigan’s regular man at the back of late, with Bowen a frustrated spectator on the sidelines.

However, despite the obvious frustration at not playing, Wane revealed his delight at how Bowen has applied himself off the field whilst he’s been waiting for his chance – which could come against Catalans Dragons on Saturday.

“I’ve been absolutely so pleased with him I can’t tell you, and he’s a chance to play this weekend.

“I want to reward him – his attitude has been fantastic, the way he’s handled himself. He’s unbelievable, the way he works with the kids.

“He’s never spat his dummy out, he’s been so professional. I’ve been really impressed. He’s had a lot of influence on Rocky and Lewis Tierney. He’s a good bloke. Whenever he goes back to Queensland and works there, they’ll have a good fella.”
