Woolford provides Huddersfield recruitment report

Simon Woolford conceded there’s a lot of work to be done at Huddersfield after his first week in charge.

The Giants head coach landed at the end of last month and had his first official game in charge as they were knocked out of the Challenge Cup by Catalans.

The defeat brought an end to a four-game winning run, although Woolford insisted that hadn’t clouded his judgement.

“I’ve learnt there’s a long way to go,” he said.

“It takes time. I think we’ve taken some big steps the last month but there’s a long way to go still.”

Meanwhile, Woolford confirmed he had already gone about beginning discussions with potential new arrivals.

“It’s at the forefront of my mind,” he said.

“The key to long-term progression for any side is retention and recruitment and it’s something I’m keen to press on with. I’ve had some talks with players in England and some in Australia who are keen to travel to the UK and we’ll be working hard on that front.”
