Maybe it's a daft idea, but in view of how some sports personalities manage to get included in the Honours List, I think that Mark Aston, give his contribution to the game as a player, a coach and as a club official, should merit something. Maybe an OBE, at least.
It's about time that he gained official recognition for his achievements, firstly as a fantastic player, then as the man who cared enough about Rugby League in his adopted city that he should save the club from extinction, and finally as an astute coach who has made Sheffield Eagles one of the top Championship sides, rivalling long-established clubs such as Featherstone and Halifax.
Mark stuck with the club through some difficult times and has deservedly enjoyed success on numerous occasions. Something of a rarity these days when money seems to be a driving factor in sport.
Whatever, disagree if you may, it's just my opionion. Maybe if he were in the other oval-ball game then he might get in the honours list.
