I agree Tony we need to make a place a home for rugby in Oldham
year after year oldham kids sign for SL clubs and a few make it, but more fall away to nothing that net should be oldham there home town but cos oldham rugby play and are run by company so badly run it's kiling rugby in oldham
Two seasons ago we had an under twenties team that was run by a dedicated Oldham coach who attracted Oldham youngsters due to his amateur connections and a couple of these have signed for the club.
Our coach decided in his wisdom to get rid of him to make a position of a retiring first team player and these connections were lost. We now have no team to attract youngsters from anywhere.
I would not dispute with you everyone wants extra business but you obviously don't know the Ambrose, as an away fan you are made to feel very welcome with great banter great food and nice people to boot.
Cant blame them for reminding us they are still there.
I noticed from the team sheet that there were quite a few Huddersfield players in our line up. Should we be excited about the possibility of seeing these players in our team. Or dissappointed that we are being used as a grazing ground for the SL players on the fringe of the Giants squad.
Got to agree I know we only have a small squad this year but If I want to watch Oldham I don't want to watch Huddersfield in disguise.
I thought the whole idea of friendlies was to get players match fit for the coming season, and we read that our squad is fit apart from one player so why are we using these Giants players and not giving signed squad players a game?
If he was working at another club (even if for stadium company) on a Roughyeds match day, that is disgraceful. He has responsibilities and a duty to fulfill as Oldham chairman and that includes turning up on match day.
If he has to work there on the day of a friendly, what happens when the season starts properly. Is this situation going to arise every time Leigh are at home? If so he would rightly be in for further abuse from fans as and when he deemed it worthy to turn up for a game.
Got to agree with you on this its a disgrace, never mind how it looks to the fans what must the players and coaches be thinking if he can't turn up on a match day, and how does this look to our opponents officials.
Are you for real if it wasn't for the lunatics left watching there wouldn't be a club. Its alright staying away in protest but what does that achieve?
I support the team on the field not the directors/director, my family have more reason than most to dislike CH but we do not go to watch or speak to him we go because we love the game and to support the lads week in/week out
No true supporter would stay away just because they dislike the man and is methods.
If you feel so strongly about him go to the ground and stage a protest against him instead of waffleing on here, but people haven't the guts to do so or so it seems
It is a crucial time of the season for what, no-one can deny, is a hard working, enthusiastic and dedicated set of players and coaching staff. As they prepare for the end-of-season, the least they deserve is the support of all who claim to be fans of Oldham RLFC. With that in mind, I suggest it is time to put the 'politcs' to one side until the end of our season and just talk rugby. What a welcome change that would be!!
Of course, I expect that I will be labelled 'a lunatic' for this simple request, so no change there!
Anyway, the best of luck to Scott, Spanner and all the lads in the weeks ahead. They deserve it.
COME ON THE ROUGHYEDS
Just watch them come out of the woodwork again should we get to the playoff final though.
