  1. Charlie was the greatest in the Tower.....So he was probably the biggest Big Topper you could get.......But you really are a Clown because the award is being presented in Manchester.......
  2. No chance that driver had to find his way to London!!!!!!
  3. I've always thought that Mr Hicks was a fair Referee.......The question that interests me is how Halifax fans think he has done in matches Halifax have played this season, he may have the same track record for them......
  4. Eagles Web Site now says it is Thursday @ Halifax........Kick Off 7.30pm...
  5. BBC SPORT Championship play-offs round-up Sheffield Eagles caused another Championship play-offs upset as they sensationally came from 14-8 down with 10 minutes left to win 21-14 at Barrow. Barrow looked on course for the semi with tries either side of the break from James Coyle and Martin Ostler. But Sheffield, who had crossed earlier through Brendon Lindsay, scored again through Alex Rowe to tie it at 14-14. Then hooker Craig Cook's try put them ahead, before Simon Brown added to his four kicks with a clinching drop goal. Fourth-placed had destroyed Widnes 38-0 on Sunday to get to this stage. But sixth-placed Sheffield , who had won 26-24 to shock third-placed Leigh, did it again to book a major semi-final trip to Halifax next Thursday night. Championship table toppers Featherstone Rovers forced Halifax to play again after booking their place in the Grand Final on 26 September with Thursday night's 46-16 win at Post Office Road. Sean Penkywicz gave the home side a scare with a seventh minute try. But Rovers replied with five tries from Stuart Dickens, Liam Welham, Tommy Saxton, Dane Manning and hat-trick hero Kyle Briggs for a 28-16 half-time lead. Shad Royston and Rob Worrincy crossed for Fax, but Rovers went on to add three more tries after the break. It was a burst of three tries in six first-half minutes in response to that early try, from second row Dickens, centre Welham and winger Saxton, which buried the visitors. And the Halifax line went unbreached for half an hour between Briggs' first try on 37 minutes and the next from Liam Finn against his old club. But Briggs took over the show in the final quarter. The Rovers stand-off added two late tries to complete his treble, adding seven out of eight attempts at goal for a 26-point individual haul. But Halifax still get another chance to qualify for the season's finale at the Halliwell Jones on 26 September - and have home advantage for Thursday's major semi-final against Sheffield.
  6. Thanks Dave we look forwards to meeting you in the Grand Final.......Robins buying the Pints!!!!!!!
  7. I thought you might like to see what Auntie Beeb thought about the game!!!! Championship play-offs round-up Championship table toppers Featherstone Rovers booked their place in the Grand Final on 26 September with a 46-16 win at home to Yorkshire rivals Halifax. The Rovers stand-off added two late tries to complete his treble, adding seven out of eight attempts at goal for a 26-point individual haul. Halifax still get another chance to qualify for the season's finale at the Halliwell Jones on 26 September. They now go into next weekend's major semi-final to meet the winners of this Friday night's minor semi-final between Barrow and Sheffield (1930 BST). The other Championship play-off game sees fourth-placed Barrow, who destroyed Widnes 38-0 on Sunday, up against sixth-placed Sheffield, who won 26-24 at Leigh a week ago. Barrow stand-off Jamie Rooney (ankle) is rated as having only a 50/50 chance of playing, while Andy Bracek (knee) and Liam Harrison (ankle) are also struggling. Sheffield have their own injury problems, with Misi Taulapapa ruled out for the rest of the season after breaking his ankle in the win at Leigh. Richie Barnett (foot) is also struggling for fitness, so Eagles coach Mark Aston has drafted in 18-year-old Academy player Corey Hanson.
  8. So we win at Leigh without Misi Taulapapa and Richie Barnett playing but, "Sheffield have their own injury problems"... They are no different to the injury problems that we had at Leigh and what a result we had there. I'd be Natterjacking if I was a Barrow supporter............The result could be Bufo calamita!!!!!!
  9. It is absolutely excellent A Cumbrian Ref that will be Eagle Eyed to see that the Cumbrian side plays fairly.....It is the best scenario......Gareth is a good bloke, I've never observed him having a bad game, what a great choice.....
  10. Besides winning for ourselves we can repay our debt to Barrow.......A good win please lads..........
  11. Imagine if you were Leigh who would you like to be playing in the Play Off's to maximise your crowd potential, it wouldn't be the Eagles, it would be Widnes. Leigh could very well engineer this situation by finishing forth....What would they have to do to make this happen? I will leave that up to you to work out.......
  12. Our game was on a Sunday but it has been moved!!!!
  13. Can they include the Trains Cup Final Crowd figures? If so 8,517 but the other crowds this season are not anywhere near, see a sample below........ Batley v Keighley 952 " v Barrow 803 v Eagles 747 v Toulouse 689 v Leigh 938 v Catalan (cup) 2132 v Whitehaven 666 v Widnes 1046 v Dewsbury 1484 v Halifax 1837
  14. Super League club to lose licence Exclusive by George Riley At least one Super League club is set to lose its place in the top flight when the Rugby Football League (RFL) awards its 14 licences next year. The RFL has confirmed that, subject to fulfilling their minimum criteria, at least one Championship club will be awarded a Super League spot next March. The RFL has also confirmed Super League will stay at 14 clubs - leaving the current teams facing an anxious wait. The next set of licences will run from 2012 to 2014. The current licensing system saw the abolition of promotion and relegation two seasons ago, with clubs instead applying for one of 14 licences for a three-year stay in Super League. These licences have one more season to run after this year and the new batch will be awarded next summer. The lucky Championship side will discover their fate next March, with a December deadline for application, subject to meeting five criteria laid down by the RFL. The criteria are: 1 Commercial, marketing, media and community. 2 Facilities. 3 Finance. 4 Governance and business management. 5 Playing strength and player performance strategy. Before that any Championship side wishing to apply for a place in Super League has to meet the following minimum criteria before being allowed to try to win a place. They are: 1 Club has reached a Championship final or won the Northern Rail Cup in 2009 or 2010. 2 Club has a stadium with an operational capacity of 10,000. 3 No insolvency event has occurred during the 2008, 2009 and 2010 seasons. 4 Club has turnover of at least
