Featherstone Rovers placed in administration

FEATHERSTONE ROVERS have, as expected, gone into administration.

The club previously admitted there was no way out of their current financial problems due to the level of debt accumulated, and confirmed their application to go into administration.

That sparked fears they may struggle to be ready for start of the new Championship season.

Rovers, at this stage without a confirmed coach or players, are due to face Batley away on Sunday, January 18, with a warm-up game at Castleford which was scheduled for Saturday, December 27 now postponed.

The club were today (Monday, December 15) duly placed in administration, with the court at the same time dismissing an HMRC winding-up petition which was last week adjourned for a second time.

In a statement, the club said: “Andrew Rosler, insolvency practitioner of Ideal Corporate Solutions Limited, has been appointed administrator and will manage the business, affairs and assets of the company.

“One of the principle aims is to safeguard the future of the club and ensure that it can compete in the Championship in the forthcoming season.

“Given the proximity of the new season, the Rugby Football League have set a very tight timescale for all interested parties in acquiring the club (and to gain membership of the RFL) to deliver their initial submissions by 4pm on Friday, December 19.

“The RFL will then undertake a period of assessment and decision making. The administrator requests that all such interested parties make contact immediately by email (help@idealcs.co.uk).”

The governing body said: “The RFL is aware of the court’s decision to approve the administration order and the appointment of an administrator with immediate effect – with whom dialogue has already begun.

“The board of the RFL will meet to consider all options later this week.”
