FEATHERSTONE ROVERS will, League Express understands, continue to host major amateur finals, despite the club not being allowed by the Rugby Football League to play in the Betfred Championship this year.
The Millennium Stadium has in recent years become the go-to venue for most of the British Amateur Rugby League Association deciders.
The Women’s Amateur Rugby League Association have also staged Challenge Cup and Plate finals there, while the stadium has regularly been chosen by the National Conference League (which in any event could shortly be dissolved after having been usurped by the Rugby Football League’s National Community Rugby League structure) for Grand Finals and promotion play-off finals.
Featherstone’s Women’s side will operate at the ground throughout 2026 while Sue Taylor, the chair of BARLA, confirmed that Rovers have continued to offer their facilities.
On that basis it is likely, at this stage at least, that WARLA’s finals will still be played at the iconic ground.
WARLA official Amanda Wigglesworth told League Express: “We have been approached by Featherstone to host the finals at their place so we’re just waiting to see what they’re offering price-wise and facilities-wise.”
