  1. IMHO the ref changed the outcome of the game disallowing what looked like a decent try to call the leading pass a forward. Lost count how many times they laid on in a tackle but to penalise Barrow once or twice for laying on. It was clear to see frustration set in within the players which determined the result. Looking forward to their visit to Craven Park!
  2. Standard of officials in this league is atrocious which subsequently lead to Barrow losing their heads. If that disallowed try stood, I reckon the outcome of the game would have gone Barrow's way.
  3. Due to work commitments I watched the game on the Youtube channel. I appreciate what you're saying RSN as no-one expected us (Barrow) to be 2nd in the league. However I thought we played the better rugby today and Donny really got their points from our mistakes. It wasn't a classic but we are where we are with the ethos this team has. Long may it continue.
  4. Barrow Raiders v London Broncos Batley Bulldogs v Hunslet Doncaster v Sheffield Eagles Featherstone Rovers v York Knights Halifax Panthers v Bradford Bulls Widnes Vikings v Oldham Tough fixtures to predict again!!
  5. Any update on Bullock's injury?
  6. Well done Barrow winning 2 title contenders in the last couple of weeks.
  7. A dedicated stand off next hopefully.
  8. Next seasons home kits. https://www.barrowrlfc.com/latest-news/barrow-raiders-launch-150th-anniversary-home-kit/
  9. Yes, the club is doing nicely with some of the recent signing but I can't help wondering if we're going to sign a dedicated stand off? Someone who gives the team direction in attack.
  10. Sounded like a great effort from the team today, also very heated with Josh Wood and 2 Fevs being yellow carded. Hope there's no serious repercussions in Josh's case. Whitehaven and Swinton losing helps. A big shout on the ladies winning and securing their place in SL next year.
  11. Not sure what you're referring to when you've written yet it always seems to be the refs fault? Referees and sideline officials that make blatant mistakes are at fault. Like today, allowing teams to be offside a majority of the game, ruck infringements laying on players, slowing the game down. I'm sure I saw one instant a Swinton player slipped whilst getting up to play the ball then penalised Barrow!?? Yes they are only human, but again I like a lot of supporters thought today's standard of refereeing was poor. And if they are drafted in from a lower level from their usual position, again the RFL should be informed about it.
  12. Both. For a player feinting to be injured doesn't do the game any justice. The game is already in a degenerate incline and cheating isn't going to do the sport any good. It was quite pathetic seeing a prop who yes was lifted in the tackle only whilst under control, be slowly lowered to the ground and milk a penalty from the referee. Pretty shallow gamesmanship, especially since minutes later played like he had no issue. As for the referee. Not only did he fall for such cheap act, he struggled to control the game in parts. It was clear to see players on both sides were losing it. If officiated correctly there would be a cleaner game. Less infringements and better quality for the paying supporters. Simply, the standard of today's refereeing was below Championship level. A quote from the Swinton coaching staff was "he couldn't referee league 1". Through his gritted teeth.
  13. HT at the moment. Where do the RFL get the referees / Officials from? I'd have thought the standard of officiating would have improved over time, but they seem to be to eager to blow the whistle!! Also why are players playing for penalties? A typical example a Swinton player was lifted, gently placed on the ground, feinted an injury, resulting in the whistle happy ref to blow for the penalty!!! I do hope such amateurish play is seen by the RFL and teams and officials are banned to outlaw cheating in the game.
  14. Probably won if you fielded 15. But well done Whitehaven.
  15. If it was to happen in a Saints v Wigan, there would be an uproar. Surely with bad officiating this would have an effect on the result. Why couldn't the game be replayed? Especially since both teams are tittering on relagation.
  16. RFL admit Barrow error but result stands New An hour ago BY JOHN DAVIDSON The RFL has confirmed to Barrow that the referee made a mistake in the club's defeat to Halifax, where the Raiders were forced to play with just 11 players, but will not overturn the controversial result. Barrow went down 38-12 away to Halifax on the weekend. During the match the Raiders were reduced to 11 on the field after Ben Tibbs scored. A scuffle between the two teams followed after the try, with Brett Carter sin-binned and Delaine Gittens-Bedward, who was on the bench at the time, red carded for his part in the melee. This meant that Raiders were forced to remove a player from the field, sending them down to 11 men for the next 10 minutes. Following this the Panthers scored three uncontested tries to close out the game. Barrow should have been allowed 13 men back on the field after Carter's 10 minutes in the sin bin was served, but they were not and completed the match with only 12 players. The club appealed to the RFL after the match about the costly mistake. While the governing body has sympathy for the Raiders and the Match Officials Department has admitted that an error was made, the result will stand. "Under Operational Rule B2:12, there is no discretion and the result stands," an RFL spokesperson told rugbyleaguehub.com Long Reads. Barrow and Halifax are both battling to avoid relegation from this season. The Raiders sit in 11th spot with 13 points, while the Panthers are above them in 10th spot on 16 points.

  19. Just seen this on fb. Not sure how legitimate it is. So im hearing strong reports that the match officials vs Halifax made a monumental mistake , forcing Barrow to play with 11 players then 12 for the second half. They should of carried on with 12 after the Bedward red card, then back to 13 once Carter came back to the field. No official statement made as of yet from the Club or the RFL , but I will be reporting on this story for the BBC this week and get the thoughts from Club representatives Initial reaction from Paul Crarey is that Player Welfare has to come into consideration after the apparent RFL error, with Raiders losing numerous players to injury since continuing with 11 players, including a concussion to Finlay Mcmillan.
  20. Would have liked to see him back in a Barrow shirt however Jake's been earmarked by Castleford for some time now. It's only a matter of time he'll be playing for them.

  22. Anyone got a cowbell like what the Melbourne storm fans use?
  23. Well done Barrow Raiders coming back from a 16 point first half deficit to claw back a much earned point against Bradford Bulls.
  24. Yes, but even our ex SL players haven't been quality for the following :- Burke hasn't played much this season, not sure why. Smith has just returned from injury. Greenwood's standard wouldn't get him in Walney A team. Costello is preforming well and is putting a good shift in each game. Wood is Mr consistent in defence, would love to see him attack more. Shaw doesn't have his pace he once had in his former years. Walker hasn't shown much creativity in attack all season. If this is due to him playing out of position, then that's a poor decision by the coach and if he under performs; his confidence would be knocked resulting in the lack of decent decision making.
