  1. It would be pretty surprising if catch-up viewing wasn't available, just as it is with SL+.
  2. The official announcement. https://www.skysports.com/football/news/11095/13131189/sky-sports-launches-in-august-to-give-more-choice-to-fans-via-live-streams-app-and-new-channel
  3. That might need its own thread, if only so we have something bookmarked for a few months down the line, when the hard-of-thinking end of the TRL spectrum are "furious" that nobody told them in detail about the changes we were all told about months ago as well as now in August.
  4. Remarkable how well it hangs together, despite the Blake's Seven opening.
  5. A fan edit of The Making of The Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy (1993) and The South Bank Show (1992) abut The Guide and Dirk Gently. A big pile of meta in a meta sandwich, garnished with meta.
  6. This evening, I cooked a venison shank in the slow cooker. About six quid, since you ask, with enough meat for two if you're serving generous sides. After seasoning it and searing it in the frying pan, I fried some shallots before deglazing the pan with mirepoix glace and red wine. All went into the slow cooker with two bay leaves, some crushed juniper berries, dried thyme, smoked garlic granules and an ageing tomato that I needed to use or lose. After the meat was tender, I reduced the juices and thickened it with cornflour, before adding a teaspoonful of bramble and liquorice jelly to make a rich gravy. Served with mashed potato and fresh peas. Bloody marvellous! Although more autumnal than summery.
  7. She was such a massive star at the time, blind eyes were almost certainly turned. Few, apart from her husband, whole-heartedly defend her these days. But she was a technically superb runner, whatever else was going on.
  8. I think in swimming, you benefit more from a well-executed start, which outweighs a tenth or hundredth off the platform. In a track sprint (and even more in the sprint hurdles), it can ruin your race unless you really are an absolutely elite talent.
  9. He hasn't got the smoothest running action and he sports a mullet that wouldn't look out of place in the NRL, but he's quick.
  10. Now the NRL's over for the day, I'm just catching up with the men's 100m qualification. Jeremiah Azu's Olympic "journey" has lasted 0.073 seconds, as the Brit was disqualified for a false start.
  11. An amazing win to break the streak! Swashbuckling to start with, stubborn at the end.
  12. It would be an admirable thing in the UK. In Australia, it just means you are exposing your kiddies to all the lethal stuff in the seas as well as all the twelvety trillion things that can kill you on land.
  13. For someone who retired a decade ago, Ade Gardner looks offensively young and in good shape.
  14. KR are playing at 100mph - I wonder if they can keep that up all match.
  15. The two French clubs can't save every talented youngster from perdition, just like the NZ Warriors couldn't do the same for New Zealanders. The more SL clubs French players sign for, the better.
  16. Warrington currently struggling to get out of their own half, as KR are swarming everything the Wire try.
  17. Capacity 20,500, if the empty seat-counters want to watch the grandstands on catch-up.
  18. Liam Marshall signs a new 4-year deal with Wigan. What a wonderful asset to the team he is. https://wiganwarriors.com/blog/2024/08/02/marshall-signs-new-four-year-deal/
  19. At least it's a purchase by a Cricketing organisation of sorts, and not some property-developer mate of Moscow Bob Jenrick's, who just wants to turn it into luxury flats and fob the club off with a shoddy new home miles out of town.
