Watched S3 ep1 of Star Trek Discovery. It’s turned into a remake of Andromeda with a bit less cheese. I guess the Roddenberry stuff has to be wrung out a bit further. I didn’t mind Andromeda, it was just too squeaky in its morals. I sincerely hope this doesn’t go that way. What really annoyed me about S2 was the over-dramatic scenes. e.g. the last episode full of standing around in mutual admiration while explosions In space probably meaning lots of people dying in the background. And...

I see your Mrs Brown’s Boys and raise you the new Walking Dead spin-off. I can’t see any excuse for a programme this bad. It doesn’t even have bad-programme parody value.

2020 has yet another indignity to throw at us. You can watch this on Christmas Day in your lockdown while waiting on the last miserable days of the year. You can fit it inbetween your Christmas lunch meant for 20 between the two of you and watching the Queen go on about her horrible annus.

To be fair, and I’m certainly not boasting about it, I don’t think I could name a current starting player in the England football team. It’s not one of those snobbish things, I just can’t abide football and will change channel if it’s on.

And then you realise mistakenly that it was your mother in law calling to say hello I met my wife at university, a couple of years later she was doing dental nursing work for her dad during the summer, she often called for some reason or another and we used to have a running joke going where I’d make a sexist comment. One time, I saw the dental surgery number and responded with “what do you want this time, woman?”. I got “Oh hello Craig, it’s (mother in law to be)”, she was their practice manager and was calling to invite me over for dinner that night. Cue lots of explanation that I wasn’t really a misogynistic thwaite...

The last one of these was a new variant of Number 1: “Hello, this is Virgin Media, your internet router is causing problems, I need to help you fix it”. (We’re not with Virgin Media) I responded with heavy breathing and “Do you want to be my friend?” in the creepiest voice I could generate. Silence. They tried again. I responded “Are you pretty?” *click* (from them) I’m running out of new ideas on how to get that *click*

It’s an abysmal app. Easily the worst of the TV streamers.

We’re now watching The Handmaid’s Tale. Joseph Fiennes plays one of the bad guys. The Fiennes brothers are excellent at playing sociopathic fascists.

We watched Greyhound last night on AppleTV. Cracking movie that needed an extra 30-40 minutes to build Das Boot levels of tension in the fight with the subs.

I've not read this thread in a while, just clicked on now and I think some people have misread "The TV Thread" for "Yet another place to wreck with political stuff" Six posts removed.

This thread is a fairly serious one. Meant for humans who have died and as a place to express sympathy. It's not a place for grumbling, expressing joy at people who died or discussing magazines. Long standing rule this one, not going to change it.

We were wondering what show to get into next and decided we’d put off Homeland for too long. We watched the first episode and I hated it. Hated it with a remote passion I’ve only ever reserved for daytime soap operas. It rubbed me up the wrong way in almost every single way possible that a TV show could. It really has put me in a foul mood.
