  1. Credit to you for going. There's very little pleasure in such one sided encounters.
  2. No, you're right, I misread the question. It is PPV not free stream.
  3. So is Leigh v London. I passed on paying to watch the inevitable.
  4. Imagine. A rugby league fan watching rugby league matches.
  5. I don't really disagree with anything you, or Scubby for that matter, have said - except that a low crowd outside the heartlands is judged harshly as we know because when we have them (rarer and rarer to try now) then the response is always to count the empty seats. On the one hand, I am very sympathetic about the fact that the RFL has no money and therefore doesn't want to spend money on creating a decent international fixture at an exciting venue and then promoting it properly. On the other, the RFL has boxed itself into a corner by being utterly focused on pleasing some old men in the 'heartlands' after several decades of at least trying to balance expansion and 'inward' investment. It's to their shame that they got scared of the modern world and ran away from it at just the wrong time.
  6. It's pretty clear there isn't the budget at the RFL to do something like that and do it well.
  7. Indulging naughty children rarely turns out well for a family. This isn't some complex case that the RFL (or WRL) are failing if they don't support. It's a club that consistently shows itself to be incompetent at the basics being incompetent at the basics again. The punishment for failing to fulfil a fixture in a professional league has to be severe even if (and I don't but others clearly do) have sympathy for the reasons.
  8. Happens in football all the time at roughly the same level (semi professional) as we have to pretend that WWR are operating at.
  9. Expunging clubs records mid season is something that serious sports do all the time.
  10. They've been indulged for years. It's time to tell them that they either act like a professional rugby league team or they have no place in professional rugby league.
  11. No, we chuck the book at the Raiders because this is far from being their first offence and they have exhausted any legitimate patience.
  12. You seem to think that this is some get out of jail card. It isn't. It was complained about at the time. I know because I did some of the complaining. To the extent that I ended up in conversation with an RFL registered medic about how it could have happened (the short version: it was inexcusable and should never happen again but wasn't the actual doctors' fault).
  13. It is a shame but any sympathy I had for WWR has long since evaporated. If automatic demotion causes them fatal problems then pour encourager les autres so be it. And if a genuine threat of it forces them to act like an actual professional club rather than some bewildering amateurs on an adventure then that'd be great too. Either way: throw the book at them.
  14. Failure to fulfil a fixture in union at any level usually results in automatic demotion.
  15. Presumably the universities involved are using the games as fundraisers so maybe have a word with their development departments.
  16. I can't remember if the women's postponements were discussed on here but I was definitely involved in conversations around them on the socials. It wasn't out of character for the women's game to be treated like that, just as it isn't out of character for the WWR organisation to fail at something that seems basic.
  17. The statements where you're apologising for mucking up are the ones you should proofread closest.
  18. Current operational rules: https://www.rugby-league.com/uploads/docs/Medical Standards_2022.pdf Must be registered with the RFL. That could be an issue if there's been a short notice issue.
  19. Don't they have to be RFL approved? It's been an issue with women's and youth matches that there has been a shortage generally.
  20. I *think* any previous were in cup competitions rather than the league?
  21. Pretty much this. The fact that they get in that they're disappointed is a level of detail you don't normally see even.
