Don't you just hate it when.....

Well, "early next week" ends at midnight tonight, then it'll be "middle of the week". Anyone heard any news? -
Tbh I was surprised we got 1375 yesterday given the appalling weather.
-
I'm really not. I think the point you're trying to make is that we're not as good as we think we are and that we're not going to walk this league We don't think we're going to walk this league. We just want to avoid relegation and establish ourselves in the championship. Mike Ford has said our number one objective is to re-establish rugby league in the hearts and minds of the Oldham populace. To get kids wearing the yeds shirt, not Leeds or wigan but Oldham. But getting back to today, we got a draw from the jaws of defeat. You tackled well and played the conditions better than us. But still you conceded 4 tries to 3. Be satisfied with the result and smell your Yorkshire tea.

The 1375 crowd was far more than I thought we'd get given the weather.

Because you were the underdogs. Not me saying that, the handicap betting had us winning by 24 points. On the coupon, you won. That's an opinion certainly! Or maybe today was the real fluke. As I've stated before, the vast majority of the Oldham players are more than experienced in championship and even SL rugby. It's us the fans who aren't.
-
Of course we'll deal it, however these forums are very much a game of ifs and buts and opinions. I'm pretty certain you've indulged in the odd 'ah yeh but what if'!!? I'm also certain that your team will be all smiles and ours will be down in the dumps. I thought you played the conditions and the ref better than we did and your tackling was immense. Here's to the return leg .

Handicap betting is 24 points.

My weather app says 100% rain but only a moderate wind warning.

How's Wardy getting here? Is he going to Batley to get the team bus? Or are they stopping off at his house so he can hop on or is he going to walk down broadway with the rest of us yonners?
-
Found this on the Batley forum.

Trouble is, with all the speculation, I think we're either going to be disappointed or gobsmacked. Could it be we've purchased Salford and we're going to absorb them and we take their place in SL? -
The lower than expected crowds is all about culture. My dad and uncles watched the Rugby, back then it wasnt oldham or the yeds, it was the rugby, my mates dads and uncles watched the rugby. They told tales of battles long gone. Ganley, jackson, Etty, turner et al. So me and my mates watched the rugby. We had a routine. Couple of pints in the junction, then worked up the hill , had a quick one in the club. Watched the match, then back into the club and worked our way back down the hill. During the SL years we did the pubs around BP. After that the culture died, there was no continuity. As previously mentioned there was a lost generation. It will take time to rebuild that culture.

Actually that makes more sense. Such a game hasn't been played in Oldham since Watersheddings! -

To be frank, buying into BP, whether 50% or lower, is the only big thing since Watersheddings that I can think of! Edit, just seen winedrinkerme's comment re building a stadium. Melrose ? -
...you're told to expect some enormous news next week? Just watched the latest Boundary Line with Bill and Sean and Bill has announced that next week there'll be some fantastic news . News bigger than anything since the days of Watersheddings!!!!!? Aaaagh! WHAT IS IT??
-
I read somewhere that the defensive right channel is the most common to concede a try because it is the left side of the attacking team. Most players, like the population in general, are right handed and so passing to the left is more common and so faster and accurate. Knowing this you'd think coaches would pile up their defence in the right channel!!

Plus my lad.

I was working last Sunday. But will be there this week.

It seems that there is a perception that today's 50-4 drubbing of York is somehow an anomaly. After all we've only just gained promotion from league 1. That unlike York, we're inexperienced in championship rugby. That's not so. The only people not experienced in championship rugby are us, the fans. The players themselves are more than experienced in championship and even SL rugby. I would argue that Mike Ford has taken his experience from the 89-90 season, when Oldham were a first division team in all but name, and is now replicating that. Last season we were a championship team, in all but name. As for this season ? Let's see. Today was not an anomaly. -
As long they don't cup tie him by playing him in the cup, then we can play him in the round after that.

I guess PLT won't be playing?
