I've been reading some of the comments from fans of other clubs on the forums and the statements from the boards of said other clubs and there seems to be a lot of vitriol from those who didn't make the grade they think they should be. I'm happy with ours. We all know we've been down there in the gutter. But we know we are ,at last, on the up. We, as fans, have to do our bit. Buy those season tickets, sign up to social media, turn up in droves. Bring mates and family . I've said before, the average crowd in the championship was 2,012. Even though we're in league 1, let's get that and more. Come on Oldham come on Oldham!!
-
A question, is there anyone who was on the rumour list weeks ago that hasn't been named yet?
-
Do you mean we should loan out some of our squad to say, oh I don't know, widnes? Give some of our youngsters game time!
-
Just listened to Fordy and long on Manchester radio. Spent the first 20 minutes talking about young boys, hadn't got a clue what perversion that was. But then they got to Fordy and longy. One interesting take away was Fordy stated more than once that we'd be playing in league 1. Take from that what you may!!?
-
Would be interesting to see the breakdown of our score.
-
But then again they may be happy coming the revitalised Oldham and the revitalised Oldham coming to them. But, as I've said before there is an advantage for Oldham in retaining the status quo this upcoming season. We have a much better chance of getting silverware and upping our IMG status.

Think we'll all be dead by then. but then again it is the RFL so you might be right!

Brain Injuries in Rugby (both League & Union)
The Art of Hand and Foot replied to Oldham Valderama's topic in Oldham RLFC
It would seem obvious and common sense. BUT, there's a reason, I believe ,why amateur boxing stopped wearing head guards in the men's division. It's because boxers were less likely to protect themselves. The head guard gave the boxers the belief that they were somehow invincible. Maybe, it could be argued, that the actions of rugby players may change. Going in head first etc. Also, I believe, scrum caps are more for preventing cauliflower ears rather than as a concussion protection. Now I'm not an expert, but think I've read the above from 'experts'. Maybe I'm wrong!!? -
What, like Newcastle? If I remember rightly even Salford and Widnes were elevated, at one time, without winning promotion! As I've previously said, there is some advantage to us remaining in a trimmed down 3rd tier and that is we have a greater chance of winning some silverware. Also a chance to 'bond' the squad. Ready for, what will hopefully be promotion in the championship.

Or maybe they like the ambition of Fordy and the board. Perhaps they want to be in at the beginning of something special!? I have faith and I believe so do most other supporters. The spirit is about to be rekindled. Come on Oldham, come on Oldham!!

New Coach - Names in frame?
The Art of Hand and Foot replied to sheddingswasus's topic in Oldham RLFC
Wakefield have announced that Sean long has left the club. So can't be long now? -
Well apparently Sean was seen and heard on the front in skeggy singing "give us a T......"

Championship/League 1 meeting

But remember Featherstone had to do more than win the league. League 1 leaders get automatic promotion. Then a second go in the playoffs. But then again the RFL may have changed the rules by then. -

Championship/League 1 meeting

Just looked at the average attendances for the championship over the last season. It was just over 2,000. That should be our objective this coming season. 2,000 home speccies is doable. Then when we are playing the likes of Featherstone, Halifax and Bradford, next season it should be double. Hopefully the board will have a strategy in place to increase the numbers. That can only help our img rating. -

I saw that. An interim season is a sensible approach. -

Can't do a big reveal and news conference if he's on his hols. -
Championship/League 1 meeting

It's an odd one. It could be argued that the status quo might benefit us. With the team we are assembling it's a good bet we will win some silverware. Also we could go far in the challenge/1895 cup. All of which will help our img score!? -
Championship/League 1 meeting
The Art of Hand and Foot replied to saints10coach's topic in Oldham RLFC
Someone on the main forum stated that at the recent meeting, if there were to be a merger with conferences, that the championship clubs wanted guarantees that they would be playing home fixtures against the money spinning clubs like Bradford, and I also assume Wakefield etc. Obviously not everyone can play Bradford. They, apparently, wanted compensation for having to travel to Cornwall. Whatever happens we need to show that we can be a money spinning fixture. -
I can't believe that. The grass off lees new road is no where near good enough to support a viable dairy herd. You must mean up near austerlands!!

From another forum. If it's true then league 1 is just not viable. -

I don't understand why Sean long was sacked by Featherstone. They were eight points ahead of the pack, they had won 19 out of 22 under him. Maybe if they had stuck with him they may have beaten London. Am I missing something? -
I think we should have three categories for announcements: 1) new signings, 2) re-signings and 3) confirmation of six week old rumours.

Whoever it is he's obviously not bringing in his own assistant as we have shez and two player assistant coaches. So he must've signed off on them!
