  1. https://coupler.foxsports.com.au/api/v1/article/amp/nrl/nrl-premiership/teams/raiders/nrl-2020-raiders-curtis-scott-pleads-not-guilty-to-assaulting-police-officers/news-story/cf47d035833bdbff9de3964dbe715bb5 Scott has pleaded not guilty to all charges. Interesting development, perhaps it appears the police were overly aggressive in their actions. Regardless, I’d still expect the NRL to stand him down
  2. Vunivalu is joining the dark side and Queensland Reds from the end of the 2020 NRL season. So he won’t play for Fiji in the World Cup in 21. Surprised and sorry to see him go. It sounds like he’s gone for the money which is odd when I thought Union was in a financial hole in Australia. I’m sure he’ll be easily replaced by Melbourne but still would rather he stayed in the game
  3. Gold Coast may not be a bad choice if Mal can keep him under his wing
  4. Quite a turnaround for Michael, really pleased for him. It looked like his career was heading for the oblivion like Uate but he’s dug in and deserves the new deal. He was excellent for Tonga recently too
  5. Very true but I still think it’s a bit of a risk both for the length of contract and the value of it. It shows how desperate North Queensland are
  6. I wonder how much he’s getting paid.........will he be as good as he was before his 12 month holiday?
  7. WTF? That is awful, I never would've thought it with Fainu.............this guy is done for now. I can't see him playing NRL again if proved guilty
  8. I've never been convinced by Egan. He's quick out of dummy half and nuggety but he's quite limited (albeit he's young enough to improve). I'm not sure he's going to significantly improve upon what the Warriors already have
  9. New Zealand Warriors have signed hooker Wayde Egan from Penrith Panthers on a three-year contract. The 22-year-old has made 29 NRL appearances to date since making his first-grade debut last year. Warriors general manager of football, Brian Smith, said: “We’re delighted to agree terms with Wayde for three years. “He’s a high-quality hooker who had an outstanding NYC career and has really impressed since coming into first-grade. “We welcome him and look forward to his contribution to our club in 2020 and beyond. “His enthusiasm and skills at dummy-half have attracted the attention of our recruitment and coaching staff and we know he’ll make a significant impact with us.”
  10. Surely not? I just don’t understand why he’d want to go or how ARU could afford him
  11. Who is paying this crazy money to players in Japan? It can’t be from commercial deals surely, as I didn’t think rugby was that big there
  12. Sutton is far superior to Guler. I don’t think he is quite right though because he hasn’t been himself in recent weeks. Not surprised by the George Burgess omission as he’s been poor recently. It’ll be interesting to see how he goes at Wigan and I hope the change will rejuvenate him because he’s been on a downward spiral for a while
  13. Has that ever happened before? I should be asking Statto this I know
  14. Manly Sea Eagles half-back Kane Elgey has announced his retirement from rugby league at the age of just 25. Elgey made his NRL debut back in 2015 for Gold Coast Titans, playing 46 games for the club before joining Manly earlier this year. The playmaker played 11 games for the Sea Eagles in 2019 and still had a year to run on his contract – but has admitted that he has fallen out of love with the game. He posted on Instagram: “After months of consideration, I have decided to officially retire from the NRL and move back home with my beautiful girl Georgie Oram and start the next chapter of our lives. “It’s been a rollercoaster ride and I’m stoked with what I’ve achieved in a short time. “I just know deep down that I don’t love it like I used to and when you that, it is very hard to keep doing it at a high level. “Thanks to everyone that I have met on the ride and who has supported me.”
  15. Rumour has it that Jordan Rapana is off to Japanese Rugby Union at the end of the year. He’s 30 now and Canberra are under salary cap pressure after giving CNK a big pay rise and bringing in Williams. He’s played yawnion before and is being offered big bucks
  16. Unfortunately there’s been quite a number of games in a Leeds shirt this year where he’s done the same, which is why he was in danger of being dropped from the first team at Leeds. Only problem is he’s captain! People are making a big thing about him being dropped but lots of Gold Coast higher profile players have been dropped this year after poor games. Peachey and Brimson have both suffered the same fate. I don’t get the hype on Brimson either, good player but overrated in my opinion. Peachey is probably the biggest disappointment and flop and he had another shocker at the weekend. His defence is awful too. Actually it’s the left side defence where Gold Coast have the main issue, Watkins side has generally been quite solid. Kelly is also a poor defender on the left edge (flies out the line) and that side is always caught out of sync defensively. Back to Watkins, I too think it’s 1 and 3 combined, I certainly hope so. I hope Holbrook can turn them around. He has the basics with Arrow, Fotuaika and Wallace but he needs to get rid of some dead wood and add some quality in amongst it
  17. There’s nothing wrong with his defence in general - there was a match earlier this year when he played second row for Leeds and did 52 tackles and don’t think he missed one. Something is fundamentally not right though - 1. he’s not fully recovered from his injury and is nursing it through games 2. He’s now lost the mobility and speed since his injury and is therefore done 3. Psychologically he hasn’t got over his injury and is still subconsciously protecting himself in games I hope it’s either 1 or 3 as it would be such a sad shame if he was cooked
  18. Parra and Manly don't stand any chance in the play offs. I didn't think Manly would do anything in play offs before T Turbo injury but they definitely won't now. Cronulla are the dark horses for me. They've struggled this season with horrendous injuries to key players. If they had the likes of Moylan, Graham, Johnson etc fit for all their games, they'd be competing for the top 4.
