  1. Enjoyed the game and appreciated that the final was shown live on the BBC. Acted as a great appetiser for the World Cup and I look forward to seeing some of these players in the Autumn. One thing I did not like is the Player of the Match is not honoured in the same way as in the Men's Challenge Cup Final. If we are going to have true equality, let's have the women's equivalent of the Lance Todd trophy. Hopefully from next year, the best player on the pitch will be presented with an award, that honours someone who has promoted women's sport and Rugby League, and so lifts the Clare Balding Trophy.
  2. Leeds Rhinos currently play in three Super Leagues; Super League, Women's Super League and Netball Super League
  3. Now confirmed that Harry will relinquish all roles, including his RFL one, and they will be reallocated to other Royals. I imagine his RFU role will be allocated to Zara Tindall, the RFL role will probably be given to an unenthusiastic William. The best that the RFL can hope for is probably Kate, as I get impression she would do best at working with the players in the Women's World Cup.
  4. Sir Kev, not only BSc but MA and can be called Dr. as well Tom Briscoe is another Rhino with a BSc from Leeds Beckett Ben Thaler is so proud of his degree in Business Management, it forms part of his Twitter bio Jimmy Keinhorst and Alex Walmsley Walmsley's degree is in Quantity Surveying
  5. Tickets are on sale again for Christmas for the next four days. There is impressive demand; of the 45 ticketing opportunities for individual games or double headers, 28 are marked as medium or low availability and 17 as high availability. Host grounds with good sales are Newcastle and Middlesbrough, Leeds, Leigh, Warrington and Sheffield. Hull is the only host city that has not recorded at least one match at medium or low availability.
  6. Excellent news, my new ambition to attend the African qualifying tournament for the 2025 World Cup
  7. Saints have gone a new celebrity fan, former boxing world champion Tony Bellew. He was super impressed with the Grand Final and with the sport.
  8. Wonder if the company was selected as a commentary on Elstone's bonkers growth strategy of promoting skint Yorkshire clubs? Looking forward after Cas Who, to hearing that the next sponsor is Wakey Why
  9. Yes, it is the Ohio club formed by Toronto Wolfpack triallist Monte Gaddis
  10. Silly lad, but a punishment that only lasts during the off-season is mild
  11. I would be surprised that with France already hosting two major sporting events at that time (RU World Cup 2023 and Paris 2024 Olympics) if there is any money left in the sports events kitty. When your country hosts an Olympics, there is no additional need to promote your country afterwards.
  12. One of the criteria is well managed, so Bradford should be automatically excluded from this process. But Elstone will probably consider that taking care of a money pit is the equivalent to managing a well.

  15. Well done Salford for digging out the result, hope they will finally get a trophy in their cabinet, shame their fans will not be able to enjoy the Wembley experience.
  16. There has been talk of a Milan team for the KHL. The current spread of clubs and countries is impressive stretching all the way from Prague to Beijing. Surprisingly, the Chinese club has been successful, from a standing start with zero ice hockey tradition, they have made the play offs. Ambitious expansions can definitely work sometimes.
  17. Football Wimbledon FC elected to the Football League in 1977, 8 years in the Premier League, FA Cup Winners 1988 Wigan Athletic elected to the Football League in in 1978, 8 years in the Premier League, FA Cup Winners 2013 Inverness Caledonian Thistle, formed 1994, 12 years in the Scottish Premier League, Scottish Cup 2015 Cricket Durham joined County Championship in 1992 Won County Championships in 2008, 2009, 2013, Friends Provident Trophy in 2007 and Royal London One day Cup in 2014 Netball Wasps Netball are an outstanding example of a successful expansion team. 18. Tweet from @ILaybourn 1 hour ago Drama in the south of France where @DragonsOfficiel players are currently jumping in their cars and driving to Toulouse to meet their plane after it was prevented by strong winds from landing in Perpignan. They are due to kick-off at 6pm in Warrrington 25 minutes ago Super League/Sky have no plans to switch tonight's fixtures around. The Dragons are thought to be boarding a flight fairly soon so should land in Liverpool between 3-4pm. Might be tight.
  19. From my reading of the situation, they are not trying to get players into the UK. The non British players have now lived in the UK for the maximum six months that is permitted. If there is no resolution of the situation then the players affected will be classed as overstayers, and will be subject to removal and being banned from entering the UK in future.
  20. It is an unfortunate situation in an extraordinary time, and in my opinion no blame should be attached. Canada is currently closed to anyone but permanent residents, and they would have to quarantine for 14 days The Home Office is currently lightly staffed with many people not expected to return to work till August 1st. As a result backlogs have built up in areas such as issue of passports and extension of visas to the extent that NHS staff from outside the EU were told their visas would automatically be extended as otherwise the Home Office would be unable to process their renewals. The RFL are going to have much joy getting an extension for the Wolfpack if there is no one available to talk to from the Home Office. The only possible solution that I can see available is that TW base themselves in a Schengen area country for the maximum permissible three months, (the obvious country would be France) hoping that Canada opens up in the meantime. If not then they would need to relocate again to a non Schengen country such as Croatia or Cyprus.
  21. 12th team is Chisinau Scorpions, so the first rugby league team in Moldova. This could present a problem if they are drawn away to either of the British clubs as people from Moldova require a visa to come to the UK
