I can't remember seeing so much snow in recent years. We have about 8 inches in our garden, we usually manage to miss it. I booked this week off and buses and trams in Manchester have stopped running.

We get a huge variety of birds, Robins, great, coal and blue ####. Chaffinch, Gold finch, bull finch, both sparrows, wren, blackbirds, woodpecker, magpies and odd Jay. we currently have great #### nesting above the patio, i have added another nesting box to see if it will attract other birds next year.

OK it's my birthday soon and I know I am going to be nagged about presents. I was thinking about some filters for my canon. Has anyone got any advice on which are the most important or most practical for a novice?

The shots were taken on Easter Sundayin Lyme Park nr Stockport,( where Mr Darcy Lived in the BBC production) it was blue but that was me playing with the shutter speed!

450, it is certainly a move up from the Fuji my husband dropped into the sea in Mystic ! I have the book understanding exposure, just need to understand it all.

Went to the Southport Air show on Sunday, got some photos on the Vulcan and Eurofighter thing. The reaction times of the Canon is so much greater than our previous camera. Will try to upload some pics soon. Really need to get a grip of the settings.

Jon a couple of questions Do you have a real job? Are you homeless? Got a copy of the book just need some time to read it. I must put some of my first efforts on here, so far they are unphotoshoped.

There is no substitute for a good photo. Software will enhance but poor composition etc will still be an issue.

Jon, do you always do black and White or is it just Urban ones that you think look better. Got some of the trial shots on the computer at last, just photos of the back garden, the cat and flowers so far, but I am so impressed with the quality of the image. Will have to find something more interesting to photograph.

Help!!!!!!!!!!! I have a SD card, I have tried a few test photos which I can see on the view finder but neither card reader seems to be able to see the card. Have I done something wrong? (or not done something)
