  1. Tel " looked an okay pass to me" Baz "I thought it was forward, but it doesn't matter what we say Bill" Never a truer sentence said.
  2. Erm.....having rewound the episode back ,Adam just said Rugby, so could be either code.
  3. Spot on, poverty doesn't hit any particular sport, I bet Huddersfield Town fans are equally afflicted. How many of their fans going ? 10,000 tops, Wembley probably be half empty........I think
  4. Nothing against Everton but please please get relegated, I want to see Agent Rafa celebrating. " doing the hoovering, bumped into the television and Richarlison fell over!" Gold!
  5. Thanks, shame they've gone, Brentwood is easy for me to get to,I'll check them out.
  6. In the end of course West Ham did show ambition, playing in a 60,000 seater stadium and gallivanting off to Europe. BTW the Hammers qualified for Europe again today, so your ex fellow fans are having a cockney knees up. BTW I've just discovered a local to me RL club, Hainault Bulldogs, anyone seen them?
  7. What's the difference between picture above and below? Answer is nothing!
  8. Well good luck to the guy, but I was hoping for Steven Toast, below, looked good !!
  9. Re- posted; On another thread Harry Stottle has posted that Leigh have 4 games of significance left of the season, 1895 final, Fev, Bash and GF. 4 left and it's still early May! That's the problem, not enough meaningful games to bring in crowds. Not wishing to turn this thread into something else, but if we had 2 down from SL , then suddenly Leeds and Wakefield and Toulouse have many more big games to play to entice the fans. One automatically up from Championship and a four team play off for the other promotion place, as in Soccer's Championship and suddenly the season goes to the wire for most clubs. Perhaps the age old concept of fans turning up to see a good old game of RL for the sake of it despite the context are drawing to a close. Attendances towards the end of the season for soccer for teams in play off contention have been very good. 44,000 at Sunderland the other night, another 35,000 plus expected tonight at Sheffield Wednesday. Give fans of RL matches with real meaning and they'll come back. Of course turkeys don't vote for Xmas so I don't expect 2 down from SL any time soon.

  11. I've looked at the youguv report. JonM misread it, 9% of those who said they had a favourite football club said Liverpool. Plenty I'm sure don't follow football or sport at all. So it's 9 % of those who expressed a preference said Liverpool which sounds right. Not quite 9% of the whole country or London. The relevance to this topic was I pointed out Liverpool and Manchester City fans travelled hundreds of miles with no direct trains to get to a semi final. It's a question of fan dedication whatever the sport, also context, Wigan and Saints meet 4 or so times in SL, those matches mean more to fans obviously. What about the GF winners and CC winners joining top two of NRL for a four team World Club Challenge, might spark CC interest.
  12. Greater London population 12 million ,900k Liverpool fans? That's 7.5 % of the whole population of London are Liverpool fans?.
  13. No I'm 61, I didn't say it hasn't lessened in importance , but at least supporters can still get off their backsides to get to a semi final hundreds of miles away, even when both clubs have bigger targets.
  14. Yep, the FA cup in such decline that Liverpool and Manchester City semi at Wembley for two northern teams, when there was railway engineering works and no direct trains, drew a paltry attendance of er...80,000..oh sorry should have thought a bit more before posting. So football is so dominant that RL fans think, if football fans don't go to their semis ,( even though they do) , then we won't go!! Eddie you are a wonderful comedian take it up professionally.
  15. Are you sure? https://frontofficesports.com/psg-president-champions-league-should-be-bigger-than-super-bowl/#:~:text=The 2021 Champions League final,Champions League do the same. 700 million tv viewers for CL vs 112 million for Super Bowl.
  16. Rugby League fans do have trouble with events held at Football stadiums that hitherto have caused no problems for hundreds of thousands of others over the years. But it's not our fault. Before making pronouncements about whether White Hart Lane or Anfield is world class, those people claiming that they are should ask if it can hold a RL event. Rugby League is the true world class game and a stadium should be able to hold a RL event to gain world class status. The Jungle can hold a satisfactory RL event, Anfield Elland Rd and probably WHL cannot. Therefore The Jungle is world class and Anfield WHL Elland Rd aren't. QED!
  17. Don't worry about Leeds getting relegated. Leeds bring big crowds and glamour to the PL, Bournemouth just got promoted and there is already two teams on the South Coast and Bournemouth have a cr#p stadium, so they'll be kept back and Leeds will be given a reprieve. Only joking! No serious sport thinks along those lines.
  18. So not altogether a successful English/Scottish Euro week. Liverpool should be okay, but Man City may have blown it despite winning 4-3. West Ham and Rangers lost and Leicester dew. My guesses for the finals, Liverpool vs Real Madrid West Ham vs Leipzig Roma vs Marseille
  19. I don't get this "Thursday is a problem" malarkey. RL is played in a pretty small geographical area. If Chelsea fans can get to Old Trafford on a Thursday, and Glasgow Rangers fans to Leipzig then surely getting to Wakefield isn't a problem.
  20. Those with delicate eardrums DO NOT click on. The thrash metal onslaught of Ministry. Spoken:] You know, they say it takes a whole pack of wolves to take down a moose 'cause one on one that moose would smack them down. It's like being in the music business: you got your managers, your ex-managers, your ex-bandmates, your ex-labels, your ex-wives, your lawyers, your tax attorneys... Hell! That sounds more like a pack of hyenas to me. You know, I was once told by an ex-manager, "Son, you're worth more dead than alive 'cause when you're dead we can sell you off in pieces." That's the way it works around here. You don't believe me? Why don't you try asking Jim Morrison Or Jimi Hendrix or Janis Joplin Or Kurt Cobain or Amy Winehouse. I'm pretty sure they're gonna take my side of the story. Sometimes I think they're the lucky ones. They don't have to deal with these douchebags 'cause they're already dead. But I'm not dead yet! You vultures want me dead What's up with that? You make more money off the carcass that is dead What's up with that? I'm not dead yet [8x] Ghouldiggers Vultures and thieves Ghouldiggers Shrouded in their greed Ghouldiggers They're always after me Ghouldiggers diggers diggers diggers diggers You vultures strike it rich What's up with that? There's just one little hitch I'm not dead yet And that's a fact I'm not dead yet [8x] Ghouldiggers Vultures and thieves Ghouldiggers Shrouded in their greed Ghouldiggers They're always after me Ghouldiggers diggers diggers diggers diggers [Spoken:] — Hello, Ghouldigger management. Can I help you? — Eh, yeah. I'd like to speak to my manager. Please. — And you are...? — My name's Al Jourgensen from the band Ministry and just wanna speak to my manager. — Am, let me check and ... then. One moment, please. I ... hold. — Dammit, they put me on hold again! What is wrong with these people? What is the major malfunction? You never return my calls What's up with that? No word from you at all What's up with that? I'm not dead yet [8x] Ghouldiggers Vultures and thieves Ghouldiggers Shrouded in their greed Ghouldiggers They're always after me Ghouldiggers diggers diggers diggers diggers [Spoken:] — Hello, Mr Jourgensen. I'm so sorry to keep you on hold. Ah, your manager is actually on a call at lunch at the meeting on vacation out of the country. However he did leave the message. He says to please call back after you're dead. — No, you're kidding me?
  21. That is 100% right Harry. Take Sir Steve Redgrave, rowing is a minority sport but he is a Nationally known figure, thanks to our success in Olympic rowing. Or Sir Jackie Stewart, F1 though immensely popular I would still classify as minority sport, but he is known nationally. Knighthoods for local people are awarded for such fine achievements in Industry or Charity, service to community, sports Knighthoods for nationally recognised people even if their achievements are not necessarily National ones. If England win two World Cups this year, RLWC and FIFA , I expect Wane to get a OBE or MBE, Southgate though will be knighted.
  22. Gary Neville slams " broken" Man Utd. I saw the game, it was the worst United performance I've ever seen. Sympathy for Ten Haag if he takes job, he really shouldn't bother, his reputation will be damaged unless the Glazers do a Volte Face and invest in a whole new team.
  23. Here's the answer https://www.uefa.com/womenseuro/news/026f-13c21c5ec54d-15f27a1a2373-1000--uefa-women-s-euro-2022-set-for-new-record-attendance-after-unpr/
  24. Only really Germany and France, the other leagues are quite competitive, particularly Italy that now seen a resurgence in both Milan teams. Anyway in football there's European places to play for not just the title. More pertinent comparison is the worrying Huddersfield Giants situation. Doing great this season, very entertaining, but crowds disappointing compared to HTFC, who got 18, 379 last night. Don't know why, I tried watching it but it was very poor and dull.
