  1. The original poster is perplexed that there are people within the game complaining about the fact that the NRLW salary cap increasing by 153% is not enough and that they deserve more because a certain superstar earns more than an entire team combined etc.
  2. Mate, seriously I couldn’t care less about super rugby or the A-league so stop quoting their figures as they are irrelevant in this discussion. Although those TV figures are impressive that’s just one section of total revenue streams. What’s the average attendances of NRLW games? What’s the average radio figures for a NRLW game? How many people attended the womens state of origin series? What kind of sponsorship deals is the womens game pulling in? How many shirts to the womens teams sell? Maybe $800k is to small but $4 million just sounds ridiculous to me.
  3. So you seriously think that the NRLW salary cap should be close to half of the mens salary cap? How many people attended the womens state of origin series?
  4. Genuine question here mate but how many would pay on the gate to watch a NRLW game? Whats the average TV audience for a NRLW game?
  5. So how much are they worth then? $1 million? $1.5 million? $2 million? Do you think Kalyn ponga is worth more than the entire knights women team because I do in the same way that Harry Kane is worth more than the entire salary of the carlisle Utd 1st team.
  6. We’ve been hearing this for decades it seems in both rugby league and football.
  7. If you can describe and provide another word for people who use highly exaggerated perceived social injustices as a shield to hide behind in order to further their political agenda then I’m all ears. How much exactly is the NRLW worth ?
  8. I think your kidding yourself if you don’t think will Jordan, Damien McKenzie or reiko Ioane wouldn’t make a NRL top 30 squad. Im sure there was people who said the same about tuigamala, timu, innes, ridge and botica etc.
  9. https://www.news.com.au/sport/nrl/outrage-after-women-cop-gut-punch-in-recordbreaking-nrl-pay-deal/news-story/320d8359329a315a3eac8ca1d00ad118
  10. Poor financially but asset rich in terms of athletes and rugby talent in particular.
  11. This. Targeting NZ schoolboy union talent is more cost effective and more successful in terms of getting them to cross codes but add to that the signing of an all black superstar every year along with 2-3 other top NZ Union talent capped or uncapped would be the perfect mix imo.
  12. Caleb Clarke, Rieko Ioane, will Jordan, Damian McKenzie and jordie Barrett. Theres also that number again x2 of young uncapped players playing in super rugby and even the domestic NPC competition.
  13. I agree but again imo there are 4-5 all blacks who would absolutely kill it in RL and apart from their on the field attributes and performances the off the field aspect that these signings would bring in terms of media attention and potential increased tv viewership would be an added and welcome bonus to the NRL and wider game of RL in general.
  14. I guess it’s trying to find that perfect mix and balance of using both heritage players and domestic players. I would have no problem with Germany or any other nations for that matter being heavily dependent on using heritage players as a vehicle or means to bring awareness to a developing RL country in terms of media attention and government recognition and funding etc.
  15. Sounds good on paper but what’s the German domestic RL scene like and not at the expense of a country that actually is trying to develop on the ground with grassroots like a Serbia or Jamaica etc.
  16. Am I right in saying that the Gold Coast has a large population that wasn’t born in the city or region or the state of Queensland for that matter and that a lot of RL fans on the Gold Coast already have their own team to support? Also is the Gold Coast a bit like Florida in that a lot of retired people live their and the area has a lot of 2nd home owners meaning that it’s 700k population isn’t a permanent population?

  18. Would create headlines in the Aussie media and NZ media but it’s just optic’s at the end of the day. As we’ve seen a lot of people like to jump on the bandwagon and associate themselves with the “in thing” and it could cause more juniors to play the game in NZ and the pacific as well as get mote people watching on tv and companies investing in the game etc.
  19. Toulouse have a lot of raw talent that just needs to be given a shot in the 1st team and not dropped and binned if they have a poor game or run of games.
  20. shawn blore. Think he was a former kangaroo schoolboy captain? remember him lining up for the Aussie while his brother played for the junior kiwis.
  21. Hope he does well but like I say he’s not the player he was 4-5 years ago. whatever happened to the kid who was the “next big thing” signed from Penrith panthers?
  22. Not sure I agree with you mate on that. I remember all the headlines that were created when the likes of Tuigamala, Gallagher and Innes etc signed for league clubs in England back in the early 90’s. plus Mathew ridge for manly in the Winfield cup days. Lomu going to league after the 95’ Union World Cup was also huge back then.
  23. I agree but like you say the NRL already do a good job of this. my thinking behind signing 2-3 top NZ union players would be not only would you get a potentially top class player but you’d also attract a lot of media attention and fans of certain players following their progress in the NRL. Another bonus would be it would be more players for NZRL to pick from and depending on their heritage possibly Samoa and Tonga.
