  1. Well I for one am seeing exactly the same as you Mr Strides. I have reluctantly resigned myself to another year of underachievement before the inevitable takes place, but I would love it to be otherwise. Along with agreeing with your analysis of the playing side, his after match 'Blah Blah' just leaves me bewildered too. No passion, No - so sorry for the fans, No - things will have to change next week - or else! The only sort of thing we seem to get from him is: "Well we just turned the ball over in the wrong areas mate" - "Well he's a good kid really" - "A little bit of a bump today, just some fundamental skills" I just know it won't happen, but if I was Uncle Ken, he'd be having to win the next 3 games, or be sent packing back over the Pennines with his P45 following close behind.
  2. I did have mixed feelings myself on Friday night. Happy enough to take the win, but for someone who's always loved the atmosphere at Cas, and the walk up and down the 'lane', before and after. The way Cas dropped off at the end was very concerning and must cause supporters some despair. I do hope and believe things will improve. But with Wardy rumoured to have walked away because the money was rubbish and he'd had little or no say in the signings, things will not be changing overnight. Fartown fans old enough to remember the 94 12 Yorkshire Cup mauling in 88 will know all about such despair!
  3. Much improvement on last weeks performance I thought. With slightly easier fixtures on the horizon, now must be the time to use what resources we have to get more creative in attack. We need to find a way to exploit our pace out wide. Whether this means moving Ash to full back and bringing Jake closer to the action, or sorting out our creative options out at 9, I'm still unsure. Maybe the answer would be to do both - not holding my breath though! I well remember when Tony Smith first came to our club, even with a far more limited squad, he would exploit our speed down the wing with an early kick from the back of the scrum. Or work well rehearsed moves to put our centres through gaps and on the burst. Nothing of this nature seems to happen anymore and I find it both frustrating and totally baffling.
  4. Indeed, we are now in the 4th year of a 5 year, so called, 'process' and still it's much the same. Each year this process brings in many new players, at great expense to Mr Davy, and each year it's jam tomorrow. The solution being 'just round the corner' or inevitably some recent change to his beloved spine, being the cause of any failure. This year, although having pace to burn down each wing and a decent new half back, the mindset seems to be exactly the same. I think that when this experiment is finally brought to a close (hopefully soon) we will conclude that sadly Mr Davy swallowed far too much Snake Oil before seeing the light.
  5. He is indeed an absolutely grounded and genuinely nice bloke to talk to, and it was only Ken's sizable wallet that stopped him from becoming a 'Wiganer' back in the day. The fact that he now questions the wisdom of staying loyal, shows the level of hurt from his recent treatment. and still no word from the club! With a £2.5 million debt and the HR skills of Deliveroo, it seems that it's not only Watto with some sole searching to do this off season.
  6. Indeed, I'm certain you will be proved right with your final analysis. It would seem clear that Ken is quite happy now to allow Watson, not only to serve the full term of his contract, but to carry on with his bizarre recruitment policy also. I hope it works and I'm proved wrong. But I'm just getting more than a waft of the Garry Schofield / John Sharp 'Kings new clothes' years to feel comfortable. Only time will tell.
  7. To satisfy your interest, I consider that promoting Robbo would be the quickest and most cost effective way to rid us of Watson and bring some cheer back to the supporters. By your own admission we're on a 'constant road of failure' and the 'Giants squad are deemed to be failing again'. So if that does not indicate change is needed what does? Would Robbo turn out to be the correct appointment? At this stage no one really knows, but you must have the patience of Jobe to continually defend the current coach.

  9. That's me done for the season now, good luck with the bumper crowd next Sunday. Rowley had us completely worked out and proved (once again) to be the far superior coach. I know an ever diminishing group of 'loyal' supporters can still see a future under Watson. For me, Robbo in asap, let this nonsense stop right now.
  10. As a Fartown fan, I'm delighted for the both of them (and Wakefield for that matter). One Senior a finalist, the other now a proven finisher, but alongside Wardle and King deemed unsuitable for the Giants these days. Never mind, we've got Bibby & Marsters........trust the process........what could possibly go wrong?
  11. But the 'great deal' we offered Leutele was less than the deal he was on already. After turning it down he was offered even less.................and we finish up with Masters! Not Watson's fault maybe, but who was throwing things round the changing rooms half time at Hull?
  12. Yes, I suppose giving the team time to gel is the most important aspect. Just been totally underwhelmed with Marsters after his pre season hype. However the focus now must be to take it to Leeds next, whilst they're still in disarray.
  13. A massive improvement it was indeed. I would be tempted to bring Connor in for Marsters at centre and then leave things alone for a few weeks. Lolohea seems to be fitting in well as an impact and in this way we can accommodate all our flair players, hopefully solving the season long conundrum.
  14. A far, far better performance from Fartown last night. So was it the "settled spine", the "loss of egos", the "few things fixed up" - or other Watsonisms? Apparently now we may have to take a step back this season. A late addition to the process mi thinks! The sooner Ken gets the waft of snake oil the better.
