The Dons got the Betfred League One season off to a solid start with a convincing 70-10 victory over Coventry Bears at the Keepmoat Stadium.

Four tries from Hakim Miloudi along with two tries each for Jason Tali, Liam Harris and Russ Spiers gave Richard Horne's side their first two points of 2018.

It was Coventry though who got the first points of the game, with Hayden Freeman creating space for himself down the left before diving over in the corner.

The Dons hit back within two minutes of going behind, as the ball was worked out to the left and Jason Tali powered his way over. Jack Miller converted from the touchline to put his side in-front.

They extended their lead soon after as Brad England created space for himself and burst through a gap in the Coventry defence to score. Miller added the two for 12-4.

Coventry hit back and had their second try after 22 minutes, hooker Lewis Lord evaded the Dons defence and got the ball down, with Ben Stead converting to reduce the deficit further.

Russ Spiers then scored his first try of the season as the Dons looked to take the game away from Coventry, using his power to force his way over after a smart dummy to open things up. Miller converted from close to the sticks. 18-10.

Liam Harris was the next to get on the scoresheet, beating a couple of Coventry defenders with a weaving run which resulted in him sliding over the try-line. Hakim Miloudi took over the kicking duties and converted for 24-10.

There was time for another try in the final few minutes of the half, Spiers got on the end of a flat pass and had enough time to run in underneath the sticks. Miloudi added the two.

HALF-TIME | Doncaster RLFC 30-10 Coventry Bears

The second half started as the first finished, with the Dons in attack. It took them just seven minutes to score again and Zac Braham was the man to profit, powering his way over from close range.

Tali then went in for his second of the afternoon, taking advantage of a Coventry knock on before racing 60 metres to go over under the sticks.

There was another breakaway try as the game hit the hour mark, Miloudi intercepted a cutout pass from the visitors and showed a great turn of pace to run the length of the field to score.

That was the start of a sensational 20 minutes for the French full-back, he grabbed his second try when he latched onto his own kick in-behind to dot the ball down. He converted the try to leave the score at 52-10.

The Hull FC man completed his hat-trick with nine minutes of the game remaining, getting on the end of an offload from Charlie Martin to score.

Harris then got his second, backing up a strong run from Connor Scott and sprinting 40 metres to further punish a tiring Coventry defence.

Miloudi completed the rout on the full-time hooter. Some great work by Jordie Hedges eventually put the ball on a plate for him to take the Dons' tally to 70 points.
