REACTION | Martin praises character

Charlie Martin believes the Dons have shown great character to win nine games in a row in Betfred League One. 

The back-rower scored in the 36-12 victory at North Wales Crusaders, and says they worked hard to get the two points.

He said: “We made it tough for ourselves in the first-half, credit to North Wales as they gave us a really tough game.

“We worked hard for the win and thankfully got the two points, third place is what we wanted and we’ve secured that now. 

“We need to keep the momentum we’ve built up, we’re pretty excited and the boys are all turning up for each other in every game.”

With a place in the play-offs now confirmed, Martin says the Dons have what it takes to push for promotion.

He added: “At this stage of the season every game is a must win, everyone thrives off the confidence in the camp and we have a consistent team on the pitch.

“Confidence is one thing but we’ve shown a lot of character as well, we’ve done it tough at times this year which says a lot about the group.

“To come back from eighth stage at one stage to finishing in third shows the corner we turned, we’ve added some leadership into the group which has been key.”
