Great Manchester Run - Rob Burrow & MND Association

Recommended Posts

Hi All

No doubt many of you would have seen the recent BBC Breakfast interview with Rob Burrow, Doddie Weir & Stephen Darby.

At present we have a team of 15 runners plus Jamie Peacock MBE & ex professional footballer Lenny Johnrose taking part in the Great Manchester Run 10k on Sunday May 24th.

The team is raising funds for Rob Burrow & the MND Association.

Some older fans will remember the late, great Mike Gregory.  Since a team took on the Great North Run for Mike back in 2007, there has been very little progress at all in finding a treat meant or cure for this awful disease.

This disease has no boundaries, so whilst the team is at present made up from fans of several rugby league clubs, it is open to any fan of any sport.

The only rule is that each team member runs in the shirt of their club.  There is already a Burnley season ticket holder signed up in support of Lenny Johnrose who is now wheelchair bound & will be pushed around the course. Anyone & everyone is welcome to join us.

Don't let the thought of running 10k put you off. The team will be running at around 11 minute mile pace, so it's a nice steady pace that even a novice can train for.

Though this event falls on the Sunday of the Magic weekend, the 12.30 start means it's easy for fans to get involved & still be home for games 2 & 3 on the day.

If anyone fancies taking on the challenge, please do get in touch with Heather, the team organiser by or drop by our Facebook page email at RB7GMR@outlook.com

Race entry is £39.

Each person who joins will have a fundraising page set up for them & be added to the team fundraising page here.  https://uk.virginmoneygiving.com/fundraiser-display/showROFundraiserPage?userUrl=RB7GMR2&pageUrl=4&isTeam=true

Please do come & join us. It is a great event & a great day.

Sticking this to the top of the forum for a few days would be much appreciated!!
